Personally, i thought it was a little weak for an opening episode, but i am willing to concede i have built up to it too much.
The opera itself wasn't that funny. loved the part with Richmond's warning. Roy's predicament was a little cringe-worthy, but then i suppose it was supposed to be (Roy is so Fr Ted lol) and for some reason Jen turning around and seeing Moss behind the bar slayed me.
Nice to see the continuations on the funny end credits...
haha.. the theatre.

I thought it was great - and unexpected as it didn't all take place in the office.
I laughed out loud - which I don't usually do when I'm on my own.
I really wanted to know about the aftermath of the last episode in the first series when they all woke up next morning - but you can't have everything. I really think it just gets better and better.
Anyone else who doesn't agree with me is entirely wrong
To be really honest, I wasn't impressed with it. I mean I adored that first season and bought it when it came out on Dvd and I got myself all excited when I saw the advert for it coming "You brush your teeth in the bath. That's where your balls are!" LMAO CREASE. But sadly I don't think it lived up to the first. I mena bits were funny like Richmond (I crease when ever he's on screen) and parts of the theater bit. I think I prefer it to when it was just filmed in the office and they've cleaned up the place. That's not right. They should have just kept it the same. But it's still good and I would never stop watching it.
i thought it was HILARIOUS! i laughed out loud throughout, i genuinely thought this episode was amazing...better than any of the first season, i look forward to next weeks episode i really can't wait, i love the IT crowd!!!!!!!!
I'd never really watched the it crowd before Friday, and was really impressed with the opening ep! Found the characters funny and the the play was halarious! Hope the series continues at this standard
Episode is so-so but last 5 minutes I was rolling on the floor. I've always thought western world wouldn't tolerate such jokes about physically challenged people and people with 'other' sexual preferences. But judging by reviews such humour is acceptable, isn't it?
i was a little worried by that myself, but my dad is disabled and he thought i was hilarious...
don't know if any of my gay friends have seen it...

This humour is acceptable because it is not laughing at people because they are gay or physically disabled or have Aspergers, but rather with them at the reactions of others to them. Humour is a great way to highlight taboo issues. This episode was completely brilliant,we have watched it several times and I cried with laughter each time. Why is Richmond not considered to be a main character yet?
maybe they just can't think of that much to do him besides a few appearances at the moment..

I agree with you completely. I was soooo looking forward to the second series, and got dead excited when I saw the advert but was disappointed with the first episode
I thought the humour just wasn't there as they had moved the setting from the office, I dont remember any geeky jokes!
“Romance is dead - it was acquired in a hostile takeover by Hallmark and Disney, homogenized, and sold off piece by piece.”
They mentioned Laura Knightley from 'The Bill' or 'The Build'? I don't know much about British shows. Roy says she plays there heroin addict who finally was stubbed in face, so it should be police 'The Bill' but there is no such actress in the cast listing. Thanks.
As a avid fan of the first serise i was a little disaponted that they dident continue the story that they left us with at the end of the first serise but maybe it will continue later on in the serise who knows.
i found that this serise has lost it grityness ie the office is way to clean and now trendy being in the it business i can vouch my office is just like the one in first season computer boards and parts every were lol. should tidy up but cannot be bothered but on with my summry
i did how ever think its was as funny pmsl through most of the jokes the writing team defently havent lost it just think it lacked what it had before and why put spoilers on the end of each episod i realy dident need to know that your killing off denham next week.
keep then comming and please continue the dam story did denham and richmond get it on did jen sleep with moss and did roy sleep with his mum or some one who looked like his mom
i think it could of been better .....it did lose some of its feel....they should of continued from where they left off...i waited for that for two years...felt a bit cheated....and i dont think the will ever finish that because denolm is gone...unless they go back in time..im kool wit dat
best bit was when Moss appeared from behind the bar! lol
agreed. a massive laugh just burst out of me at that point.

This episode was hilarious. I was crying with laughter, especially with Roy going off to Manchester. It was brill at the end when Moss literally brought the bar down.
