I was looking forward to watching the IT crowd last week, after hearing so much about it. It promised a hell of a lot... a writer with pedigree (father Ted), a potentially hilarious situation, characters and location... BUT...
IT WAS TERRIBLE!
I felt embarassed watching it. Very poor jokes.. almost infantile in their construction. Absolutely nothing clever about them. I can't recall laughing once. How can you even compare this to such genius as Father Ted, Scrubs, Spaced, Mighty Boosh?!?!? This is dreadful. I'd be very surprised if this gets a 2nd series. If it does... god help this country!!

Rant over.

I think Eastenders and Coronation Street are a massive waste of primetime tv. But each to their own.

Episode one was worth it if only for the Screensaver joke. As for overall I am reserving judgement until a few more episodes are under the belt.

Give it a chance! I have to admit, my first impressions of the show weren't great, but it's really grown on me now.

How can you judge it after 2 episodes? I thought it was a rather weak after watching the first episode, but the second episode was much better and its really grown on me.

To be fair... I will continue to watch the episodes. But I'm not holding out much hope of it improving. As others have mentioned, the acting is lame, the audience laughter is cringe-making, and the jokes are just an insult to your intelligence!
I've watched the first 2 episodes.. both terrible. Every other sitcom I've liked, I've known almost within the first few minutes and jokes, that it has hit the mark. The IT crowd is so far off the mark, that I did start laughing from embarassment!
Anyhow.. each to their own hey?!?! I just pity those of you are so deluded as to think it's a brilliant piece of comedy wiritng!

Cheerio

Im not in the mood for arguing with you today, so don't expect any comebacks. Its a show that you don't have to think about, take it or leave it.

It's lucky we're so deluded, Haynesy, that we can just relax and enjoy the show, without realising that in reality it isn't actually any good.

Why is everyone so upset, i though the first 2 episodes were funny the 2nd more than the first. I just hope the 3rd is any good cause if not it will spoil the sitcom

The third is alright, a bit too much bad language without a profanity buzzer, definatly not the best ep. of the series.

well said and perfectly accurate, it appears many people hated this comedy' (Notice comedy is in inverted comma's im doing the finger thing right now lol) i dont think we will have to endure another series and if for some reason channel 4 are stupid enough to put it back on lets just hope its up against something mildly entertaining.

This bit of your post tickled me ...

You're funnier and more intelligent than I thought you were.

You're still really wrong about The IT Crowd though, a really funny, good comedy. Series 2 shown be coming very soon, can't wait.

I couldn't wait for each episode ... Each one a special gem, a shiny good thing in a dark world of cardigans and women who lose all their looks and appeal before they're 30.

Finding The IT Crowd was like walking in the Co-Op and finding the Lambrini half-price.

It touched me ... Deeply.

For lunch I'm thinking Domino's Mighty Meaty, but there's still an hour to go.

..or like having the person/people in front of you in the queue in Argos, actually know what they want without making the cashier go thru the catalogue. Mad
