I'm not sure how they even got backing for this series, probably only got backing because of who is involved in it.

I hope there is a new series, the opinion of everyone I've shown it to is that it is good but the opinion of the internet semms to be that it's bad but that always happens with the internet with all tv shows.
Morph, perhaps if you get the fan site started then we'll get more fans and c4 will be forced to fund a second series.
Channel 4 made a bad move i think putting it online a week before showing becuase only the people who would be critically of it would watch it. Therefore it got a lot of bad press. However, people who watched it on TV like it, and the people who watched it on the internet like it even more on TV.
Yeah... there has to be a second series... and it must last past 3 series (since all of the writers shows havn't lasted longer than 3 series , IE father ted and Black Books)

I have explained it in many posts.

the offensive part is the basis of the show, the portrayal of the people involved, the fact it's playing over the top on a stereotype. If you have similarities, fair enough but it's not reason for offence.
Also making judgements about people online who you don't even know is pretty narrow minded. Who are you to say someone has 'no sense of humour'?

some shows are made on stereotypes, but not all of them take the idea of offending by personal attacks. A lot of them play on actual aspects of those stereotypes.

The only reason why the first one was ever made/funded seems to be because of the past of the people involved.
The overhype is making it really funny, adverts all thru friday night, tonight the announcer blokey said "one of the mighty boosh turns up in the it crowd as a goth, if you haven't tried it give it a go, it's made from the writer of father ted and black books, frankly he's quite talented"
seems like they need more people watching it? playing on the writers past and the guest in one plug for the show lol I guess the writer had writers block while doing the it crowd.

I've never seen a show pushed as hard as this one. What a let down!
There are posts in other threads saying the same aswell.

So are you a technician that takes offence to the way you are portrayed?
I'm a technician, and in the first episode spent alot of time going "OMG, we do that" or "We have those" etc. So much of what we do is reflected on screen
Yes, its taken to an extreme but what satire isn't? Surely we are all able to laugh at ourselves...
“Romance is dead - it was acquired in a hostile takeover by Hallmark and Disney, homogenized, and sold off piece by piece.”
I find it odd that anyone should think that the IT Crowd is offensive, given that, in my view, Moss is something of a breakthrough in the portrayal of IT geeks in sitcom. Ayoade plays him as a self-confident geek, who is in his own world, and who doesn't appear to be too bothered if people choose to join him in it or not. I think Linehan and Ayoade have created a fantastic character, and it's interesting to compare Moss with Roy, who is a lot more desperate to be accepted by the 'people upstairs'. Rather than portraying IT technicians as sad losers, Linehan has highlighted just how reliant companies are on them, and how badly they can be treated by other employees.
I'm amazed by just how much I love this show. It's fantastic to actually have a programme that I can't bear to miss. With this and Life on Mars, I'm actually watching television a lot more than I used to.
