First off, huge fan of the show. Got it from a torrent and have been sharing it with all my friends. I have yet to find someone who does not like it.

What I am trying to understand is the season. 6 episodes is really short. They merely teased.

When does the next season start? Was this an in-season show?

Thanks for any help you can give on this.

Here in the UK 6 episodes is pretty standard, a few shows run to 8 or 9 but thats pretty rare.
The way we make comedy is very different to most US shows - here shows are usually written by just 1 or 2 people, in the states you tend to have a large commitee of 12 or so. This is why our runs are so short - it would be difficult to keep the momentum up for a 22 week run for a single writer.
There may or may not be a second season, it depends on whether Channel 4 commision it and whether Graham Linehan, the writer, wants to do one.
Graham also co-wrote Father Ted, which if you haven't seen, is well worth checking out.

I heard rumours of a second season in January next year... It will only be 8 episodes long though Frown

I appreciate the quick response, and the information. Thank you.

You mention Father Ted, I will check it out. Are there any other good shows.

Here in the states, sit-coms usually suck. very rare to find a good one. And if the US decides to copy a UK show, they royally mess it up. For this I present the Office, as an example.

The US version of the Office is alright. I quite like Dwight, but they changed the David Brent character into a slightly goofy but harmless Micheal (I think his name is) which kinda took the edge off it.

Where to start?

I would definitly recommend "Black Books" - again written by Lenahan

Also try "Blackadder" - the 2nd & 4th series are best
Absolutely Fabulous, Spaced, The mighty Boosh...
Well you could look here :
BBC's Comedy page

Enjoy!

Try some of the older comedies like the Young Ones, Bottom, Rab C. Nesbitt and the like. Still game was pretty funny if short lived. It was about the older generation and what they got up to. Some of the cast from Rab C. were in that one. You might need subtitles for Rab C. though as the accent is quite hard to break down. Rab C. walking his canarie and stopping to comment on how surreal it was, THATs surreal you green wing diehards.

Still game is on, I think, its 4th series.
Trouble is its not all been shown doon south & its not been well advertised when it has been.

If you fancy dark & surreal theres 'The League of Gentlemen' and various programs featuring Chris Morris like 'Jam', 'Brass Eye' and 'The Day Today'

Try and get hold of the episode of Father Ted called "Kicking Bishop Brennan up the Arse" It is the funniest thing I have seen. I can still remeber the first time I saw it!

In the preceeding episode Ted lost a bet with Fr Dick Byrne - it was the over 75s 5-aside football contest that Ted cheated in to win(he had Fr Jack in a radio controlled wheelchair).
I think this was the only episode that followed directly on from the previous, and yes probably the funniest Ted episode.

I agree with Saz, Green Wing looks strangely unfunny on the ads.
Someone should write a sitcom about 2 old men who surf the net together - Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay made up to look old. That would be hilarious imo

I think the US version of Men behaving badly had them living in a luxury aparment and all the actors were handsome non-smokers.
Missing the point or what?
