I'm nearly 40 and being doing IT/IS for over 15 years. So I've seen 'em all.
Having worked in the 2000+ employee company, with just 0.01% devoted to customer support, like the case of this show, then they (show) are bang on.
These are the same cheap companies will continue to use outdated technology ten years later. Sadly, for large companies, this is the norm.
You get two somewhat competent support personel, paid at low salary, in real life, just like the show. Who's going to work in such conditions?
So the show is a carricature on established stereotypes with appropriate exageration for the common mass. Now, who is the show destined for?
Surely not the top 5% of the intelligent population. It's only the top 5% that are capable of using an Internet forum like this.
We could make the same judgements on Gilligan's Island, yet is was a huge success, catering to the sub-par intelligence of the common mass.
If the show producers read this, we have to give them constructive criticism, to improve the show, in the same manner William Shakespeare designed his plays - subtle humour for that top 5% - obvious for the other 95%.
This show needs more subtlety, in the manner of
BOFH that I like to read on The Register.
All the show needs now is the PFY Intern - should be fat, like I am.
