So I was watching my ripped IT Crowd episodes (mostly because they don't really air around here) and coming across episode three there was a horrific thing going on.

Who's bright idea was it to use IE6 by computer literate people? I mean, that's just wrong, so very wrong it hurts. A public uproar should be held about this. Hell, riots should be organised and the world pushed into a world war against whomever didn't do their research.

sorry to sound stupid but what is an IE6 exactly?

internet explorer 6, probably the browser you are using... unless you are on firefox or other...

If the business uses IE6 then IT usually have to!

If IT did roll out Firefox it'll keep us busy for months, I like sitting at my desk replying to random crap like this thanks!!

When I worked in IT, admittedly for a small company, we used what the bloody hell we liked. Obviously everyone else was locked into using Win XP, MS Office & IE. Like you say it made things easy work-wise, but I remember the happiness brought on by the power and control of choosing my own work 'tools'!

Nah, if only it was that simple. That job was 3 yrs ago. Now just a regular office pleb using a locked-down thin client with no installation priviledges.

Im forced to use IE at my work as our web systems dont work with FF

So I use FF for everything else that is web based and not for work.

Just get IE Tabs for Firefox and you can then use Firefox to open those websites!

Just google for IE Tabs and you'll find what you need!
