To start off with, welcome to this discussion as this is intended.
So whats wrong with Season2 well first 2-3 shows were funny i can't deny that. But the latest (on moment of writting this) episode 6 is so dissapointing that it's a disgrace to the other episodes.
Whats the problem of that.... well as i've read there are new writers for this season to help out.
Are they sexually frustrated ? so far i've seen more wannabe funny sex jokes in each episode then i've seen in whole season1. seriously get back on the IT bus.
another problem so far is that its rarely about the workplace anymore.. they are always somewhere else.
The funny boss vs the non-funny sex jokes boss
well killing off one of the best and randomly awesomely funny character is one thing bad, replacing it with a CRAPPY american sense of humor sex jokes character is doomsday.
Then another change to the main characters Roy & Moss season1 IQ 160 ? this season IQ 44 ? since when did they get written off as being stupid ? In season 2 they are written as if they don't know what they are doing and have no control over themselves or their skills in doing things.
Only way to make season 3 a success is killing off the new boss (no disrespect for the actor) get the old boss back, up the IQ of Moss and Roy again, show more then 3 mins of Moss and Roy and 19 mins less of the new Boss. Keep is more in the IT area as season 1 was.
Cheers for reading, don't start calling names keep this clean and respectful if your not agreeing with me please do respond in a normal way.
and to add on the end of this, i thought IT crowd would be like Red Dwarf would be in the 90's, with season 1 that was the case but season 2 it's not getting there.
hello, you make very valid points... i doubt many people will be angry with what you've put.
yes, compared to last series it was seriously lacking.
denholm, does anyone know if that was the writer's decision or if chris morris had had enough? i understand with douglas they didn't want to create 'denholm #2', but they definitely went the wrong way about it.
remember when series one was starting? graham and ash were in the radio times and what not stating how they wanted to write a comedy the whole family can watch, kiddies to granma... they seem to have done a 180 on that with douglas and richmond at the dinner party (watch that with your granny? anyone? =( )
so, ash? graham? if you are reading this... *holds a slim hope* please less sex jokes, more geek jokes... that's all we ask...
*has watched 'white and nerdy' by weird al 60 times since the series started to make up for the lack of geek in the series... just as well videos are free on virgin media... *

The best episode was 5th, IMO. The last one was very strange. Lousy american underwear humor seen in a whole number of stupid american so called "comedies" is inappropriate in British ones and 2nd season was full of them. For me the standard of first-class British humor is Fawlty Towers, but maybe I'm just outmoded... Anyway this was the last ITC season for me.
@ Rogershoes; thats my point, there are enough comedy shows out there doing that already which i personally don't think are funny.
take F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for example i never liked it, non the less i saw 2 episodes... its like 1 joke getting repeated over and over... 1 starts a topic, 2nd reacts, 1st one says lets stop about it,2nd agrees, 3rd one walks in starts talking, 1st one says to 2nd lets go ends with a non-funny line talking about the topic they just closed. (might be hard to read but thats the buildup for all the jokes they make.)
Thats something i don't want to see in IT crowd... it did happen -> 1 fly death -> 2 flies dead...
IT crowd in my eyes is totally about the Technical view on things, and seriously if you don't get the jokes which aren't hard to figure out...
@ Kowarisuki: Disagree on that.
Best episodes on season 1 = episode 2, closely followed by all the others really.
Season 2 = 1,2,3,4 then is went down hill quick.
i seriously hope denholm gets back in (same actor as well), be did it brilliantly just as the other actors doing their parts.
and there are enough jokes still laying around about computers, hardware, software, and any other lackings or such....
*example, some might find this disturbing but i don't care ;D. I was talking with a fellow IT friend about girls and he jokes about his penis being as long as a 2meter UTP cable. my responds; i rather have STP cable with some girls ;p.*
These sorts of geekyness or what you like to call it, is funny but only for those that know what it means.
i'll waiting for Season 3 and make it geeky and funny.
To keep any comedy fresh you need to let it evolve by trying out new ideas. Some work, some dont. Personally I love that they dare to be different - there are already so many one trick pony shows on tv that are carbon copies of the previous weeks episodes.
@ DavidN1978: My thoughts about The IT Crowd is that they are in or around their workspace, i don't mind them being somewhere else but season 2 i've seen the workplace for maybe 20 mins in the whole season.. well can't be IT when your not there.
About the ''Daring to try new concepts'' well thats maybe the problem the concept was great but they changed it, thats when i thought it lost something special.
For the cardboard cutouts they are ace, have to give the builders thumbs up and the person(s) thinking of what to put what where as well.
As for the comment about different places being bad.. well watch Red Dwarf season 1 up to 6
he may have to communicate through richmond though.

Well everyone is entitled to their views, but I really like series 2; it's easily as good and as funny as series 1. And I LOVE Douglas Reynholm - I think he is hilarious. My family and friends like series 2 too (as well as series 1...)
It gets funnier each time I watch it. (I have seen each episode 5 or 6 times now as I have both seasons on dvd.) Each to their own; but I do love series 2 as much as series 1.
To start off, I am American. I Liked Friends (all umpteen seasons). All those aside, I 100% agree that Season one was much funnier than season two. I don't like Douglas. I find his humor rude, crasp, and utterly boring. His character is bound to ruin the show guaranteed. Bring back Denholm. He was a bit getting use too, but like many aspects of the IT crowd, I found myself laughing hysterically unexpectedly. "You probably think this is a picture of my family. It's not, It's the "A-team". -- How utterly rediculous yet thoroughly entertaining!
"Are you Sure?!?!" "Are you Sure?!?!" "Are you Sure?!?!" "See this balloon, this is your peace of mind Jen. Im going to pop it!"
I hope season 3 gets back to that same quirky feel that season one brought.
