if hes done all these good things already why has he had hardly any new good things happen to him?? and the morale of each episode just seems to be the same all the time

I suggest you read up on Karma...
quote:
and the morale of each episode just seems to be the same all the time
Well that is the idea, I've said this before in nother post, anyway... it's all about his journey he has in order to achieve his goal as he get's up to allsorts, that's what makes it fun to watch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you ooze Masculinity like some of us do, you have no reason to fear Pink...
"There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is ENGLAND." - Sir Winston Churchill
plus, in a way, its not so much about good things happening to him (ie. material things) but more to do with Earls lifstyle and the way he feels. about Earl realising that theres more to life than material value, and being a generally happier and more fulfilled person because of the good things that hes doing.
It makes him happy thats the most important thing.
so i guess you could say that living a better life is its own reward.

he made a promise to cross something off the list but he kept putting it off and karma kept punishing him for it.
then when he fixed the promise he said that in the end he didn't need the punishment to remind him of karma "...it was the feeling I got everytime I crossed something off the list...".
"...reminding me of the person I want to be", or something like that.

Funnily enough I was thinking of the debates on here during tonight's program! Maybe the writer(s) realised that some principles of karma/Earl's motivation would be misunderstood so wrote this ep.
I especially liked when the professor defined what Karma really is and Earl was like, yeah but this is how I understand it so that's what I'm sticking to
yeah, the definition of karma varies from culture to culture and can be interpreted in many different ways though it still relates to the basic idea of living a good life to ensure peace and contentment.
but in this episode they kind of showed that it doesn't matter how you "define" karma, whats important is how Earl interprets karma and adapts it to suit his own life.

Well just because he does one good deed it doesnt mean to say his grotty apartments going to turn into a luxury mansion. It takes time, Karma works in mysterious ways...
& he met alex (?) who he has a crush on & he believes if he carries on with the list then he'l deserve her... he sed after the hole bee sting thing
