same here it didn't bother me

Nah, I didn't like it at all The lead character annoyed me, I figured out the 'twist' half way through and do we really need another show about solving murders? I mean we already have CSI, CSI:Miami, CSI:NY, L&O, L&O:SVU and L&O:CI! They all do more or less the same thing, except with slight differences. What will the The Closers 'slight' difference be? A leader who isn't liked by her team A woman who is in charge a title you can't use initials for I'll give it another go, but I am bored with slickly made murder dramas where everything is solved in under 1hr.

Horses for Courses.. and all that. I was quite satisfied with the first episode, but it does really remain to be seen if "The Closer" can maintain a slick and interesting performance.. which I'll certainly be tuning in for in the next couple of episodes. (IMHO) 9/10 for the first episode ________________________________________________ HiYa... Slow down and have a cuppa -or a glass of something

we will see next week whether it can keep up the pace

If the interview scenes are half as good in The Closer as they were in Homicide: Life On The Street (particularly Andre Braugher's excellent performances) then we should consider ourselves fortunate.
The one from the first ep of Closer was pretty good.

Roll on ep2 as far as i'm concerned.

Very good 2nd ep in my opinion-Kyra and the ensemble are giving us a good quality police drama with good twists and turns.

were any of u lot surprised the husband didn't kill his wife?
Wow, I thought first episode was good but this episode was slightly better, I liked how they didnt make a big deal about fancy title sequence instead they used shield technique of starting episode and black out every few season with actor names, I really like that. The one thing I found amusing was how she managed to get a makeover while doing the investigation, I really never seen that happened before on a cop-show.

I watched it. She's very clever at getting people to tell her stuff, without making them feel threatened.

true but i think that due to her presence since she doesn't look tough but she is

she uses peoples prejudices against them, v clever! i liked the whole makeover thing, and keeping the dress at the end. i was sure it was the husband so it was a good twist.

The Closer,
well Brenda damn was she right to put a hit on the suspect? She a cop but she really cause him to be killed, yes he killed the two women but I don’t get why she couldn’t arrest him?, he confessed to killing them both so I’m a little confused why she let him go?, Last week she gets a free make-over this week she buys the murdered Women fully furnished house, sometime it benefits of being a cop.

That was the first episode I've seen. Was definately surprised when I realised what she was doing. Good stuff.
Couldn't arrest him because the FBI said he was somewhere else at the time. As she said, the court are unlikely to take his word over the FBI

and she realised the russian mob would kill him if they thought he was dealing with the fbi secretly.

so last night episode, typical getting boring how she manages to catch the right guy.

well, I really like this show, I think Kyra is quite magnetic, I love the southern (East Georgian) accent and the faint southern background music/sounds that help create the atmosphere of a 'visiting southerner in modern LA', I think the acting is very good, the scripts so far, very good. Yes, as one of the posters above stated, there are a lot of crime shows on at the moment but the Closer does have some differences.
All in all, I am very glad ch4 are running this show and I hope that they will continue with future seasons. A high quality drama imho.

she has to keep catching the right guys to prove to her squad how good she is, thats the whole point! they all think she is crap, if she loses it will just reinforce that. i think bit by bit she will win over the others, she already has gideon(or is it gabriel?) and i think the black woman is moving to her side. and its not that odd she keeps solving the crimes; murder has the highest clear up rate. Now if she was in the robbery squad...

They were both great, and interesting film. Can't remember her having annoying accent, but I haven't managed to see "Closer" yet (too many things at same time) so will see.
