I'm there at last. Am I a happy bunny or what!!

If I remember correctly, I thought that Jed told Sam that it would happen "one day" - I would have thought that this election was far too soon for Sam (plus the fact that Rob Lowe would have wanted too much money!). I am also looking forward to Friday - can we please keep this thread spoiler free? Maybe someone wants to set up a spoiler thread to run alongside this one? quote: Originally posted by boxsetking:

To be fair to Sam he would deserve more pay. Its a whole different ball-game being President rather than a senior political advisor. And all those early morning wake-up calls would ruin his hair and complexion. Definitely a job for an older man. Give it another 5 years and you've got the makings of TWW 2 - Sam as Prezza and Josh moving up to Chief of Staff. They both need a bit of time to make their fortunes (like Jed and Leo) before taking on the big jobs.

I'm very excited. Fifteen minutes to go. Sad it's the last series though! But on the plus side 22 episodes for new West Wing to do. Fave episode would probably be The Supremes. At the moment anyway.
It's not our job to appeal to the lowest common denominator. We have to raise it.

Newcomer to West Wing - got into it from late nite re-runs. I missed the series 7 start on More 4 tonite at 9pm. I'm just watching "the ticket" - i think its the last episode of series 6 (1:10am More 4). Is the first episode of series 7 going to be re-run and shown anytime again before the next episode next Friday?

Cheers dude, I'm relieved now. So Santos getting the vote WAS the season 6 finale! Got it. Der! Was wondering what happened to Josh's hair in a week. Long haired hippy!

Thank God for that, too...I like Josh's fuzzy bits!!!!
JOSH: I'm thinking of firing you. DONNA: You fired me twice already tonight--I'm impervious.

Wow - I just happened to spot this in passing - I thought season 7 was ages away on more4, so for those who missed last nights - it's on again tonight at 8pm on more4.

I enjoyed Episode 1 - Series 7. Its interesting how Leo looks just a little lost being the candidate rather than the power behind the throne. Also CJ has become a powerful figure and brooks no nonsense from the others. The scene between Josh and Donna was quite intense but I'm sure there is more to come there. Toby looks like a man with worries. So many threads laid down in one episode - its still the best.
Lastly - a guess as to who is going to win the Presidential race ( and only a guess I assure you). When the "President" emerges from his car in the opening scenes of Episode 1 we get a look at his shoes - and they did not look particularly shiny to me!!!

I *loved* that opening sequence - West Wing at its best I felt! I agree about Leo - he does look lost doesn't he? I'm unconvinced by the decision to choose him, but this could be down to my lack of knowledge of how US politics works. It seems very strange for Santos to have his right hand man picked almost against his will like that. Mind you, Bingo Bob was chosen in a similar way. Is it commonplace for POTUS and VPOTUS not to be close? It does fit in well though with the episode back in season 5 (I think) when they need to choose a VP, and Josh has a piece of paper with Leo's name on it. I also agree about Toby - I have a hunch that he may have good reason to be worried. I still miss the old Toby - he used to be one of my favourite characters, but his spark has gone.

I don't think that you can tell who wins from the shoes, they are both tall men. What happend to Margarets baby? She was pregnant at the end of the last series and either there is no maternity leave in the US or she came back to work double quick. I am surprised that Josh didn't take Donna on, after all after the nominations doesn't it become Republican v Democrat? I am a little more surprised that Annabeth is now supporting Leo when Toby looks like he is going to go off the rails, after all Annabeth is supposed to be doing CJ's old job. I thought it was a typical season opener, all appears to be going wrong and something magical happens towards the end to make you feel alright again. Finally a small note, whats with More 4 showing adverts as soon as the titles had finished. This IS NOT AMERICA (that's how they show adverts there). Cant wait til next week.

Hi, anyone make a good guess as to when we will see Season 7 on DVD?
Thought Santos's line to Leo about having another heart attack to get out of continuing as VP in the presential race was sadly ironic.
What's up with Toby - am assuming he is the spaceshuttle snitch!

I agree about Toby being the leak, but getting together with CJ??? Wasn't she with Danny 3 years hence in the opening sequence? As for Josh and Donna, I think they will get together too, but I can understand why he didn't take her on for a job - this was pretty clear when he quoted back some of her statements during the primaries to her. He has got close to the top, and didn't get there by being soft - the on/off relationship with Amy (who I liked btw, though noone else seemed to!) is another indication of this. Oh....and I also agree about the ad breaks - very annoying!

The reason I mention the shoes is because Alan Alda made a big thing about having his shoes clean and shiny in an earlier episode. I think I remember him critisising Josh's shoes and making him give them to him for cleaning.
Chadders - there is history in the Potus and VPotus not getting on. The VPOTUS job can be very frustrating for its holders. There are only 2 constitutional duties - becoming President if something happens to POTUS; and casting tie-breaking votes in the Senate. One of its holders I think referred to the post as " not being worth a bucket full of warm spit". Roosevelt kept Harry Truman so far outside the inner circle that he didn't know until he became POTUS ( on Roosevelts somewhat expected death in Office) that an Atomic bomb had been developed. Kennedy treated Lyndon Johnson with absolute distain. Nixon made derogatory remarks about Gerald Ford. Intersting that all 3 of those VPs went on to get the big job. In more recent times however the relationship has been much closer to the extent that at present with Bush and Cheney its sometimes difficult to know who exactly is the POTUS.
Ah well - just over 24hrs to the next episode.

That's what is was!! The clean shoes thing has been eating me all day - I knew it was from somewhere - thanks for putting me out of my misery!! SomehowI don't see CJ and Toby getting together and whilst I would love to see Charlie and Zoe get wed - can't see that either. And in the first scene of Season 7 what do you reckon Josh's job is? I reckon he is with Bartlett and not Santos. Santos will win though but I reckon Josh takes a step back after Leo's untimely demise...this is all guess work Can't wait for the next episode. Just wish it was out on DVD - detest the ad breaks.

I've been out of reach of UK tv (and extreeemly out of reach of US tv) so could someone kindly take a mo and tell me what series C4 are up to? Reading through this thread, it looks as if C4 are waaay behind E4 (or is it More4) with no transmission dates scheduled? If so, this is depressing, and I will have to buy Season 7 as soon as it's available on DVD... bit like I did with seasons 4 - 6 - as I can't get E/More4.
ps: surely it'll be CJ and Danny? pps: I *loved* Amy - some of the dialogue between Josh and Amy was sharp and very funny (ok, I know that was down to the writers, but the characters certainly lent themselves to those sorts of exchanges) ppps: I've always assumed POTUS and vPOTUS don't usually get on because when it comes down to it, vPOTUS is (in the real world) the loser. Cheney and Bush are a bit different, I think, because son has daddy's advisors so they have an autonomy they perhaps didn't have when they were with daddy.

Hi there, If your out of reach of UK/US tv then I hope you are at least somewhere nice and warm! You could be forgiven for not remembering when the WW was last on C4,it was so long ago. I think that the last series shown on terestrial TV was that shown in 2003, I think that it was series 3 or 4. Don't think they will show any of the later series on C4. Although they might push the boat out for the last series. Hope that's of use. And yes it's M4,is there really any need for all of these new channels? quote: Originally posted by normandie: I've been out of reach of UK tv (and extreeemly out of reach of US tv) so could someone kindly take a mo and tell me what series C4 are up to? PS, just noticed all of your ppss's. if you watch later episodes of S7 already aired in the US you will find out who CJ ends up with. I won't spoil it by putting it here. you probably already know this but a good site for future watching is www.my-serindipity.net enjoy. quote: Originally posted by normandie: I've been out of reach of UK tv (and extreeemly out of reach of US tv) so could someone kindly take a mo and tell me what series C4 are up to? Anyone know when Series 7 is out on DVD? Although credit is due to Ch 4 for putting Season 7 on immediately after 6 ended, we are still miles behind timewise so spoilers are inevitable, and the adverts are not only annoying but very badly timed aswell. An advert should come at the end of a dramatic scene, not in the middle of it. Moan moan moan.

I've noticed that too - are they trying to copy the states or something? The credits barely roll and an ad comes on...it's really annoying
