Major Josh/Donna spoilers now on the J/D thread for those who are interested!
Also, clips of all the eps that have aired in the US are on my-serendipity.net, if you was some previews. I have to say, I find the US promos very amusing. They have one of those great, deep voice overs, like on some Hollywood blockbuster, Van Damme type movie. Check them out!!!
As for the debate, I really don't know if there is much difference between the scenes. I know there was a small amount of improv, but that the questions were the same and the candidates had prepared answers to the questions, as they would in a real debate. Othere than that, I don't know the difference. Sorry!
JOSH: I'm thinking of firing you. DONNA: You fired me twice already tonight--I'm impervious.
I enjoyed the episode as it should what was going on inside the White House as well as the campaign.
I thought a couple of scenes were quite poignant, particularly when Bartlet was talking to Toby without looking him in the eye, sensing that he was the Judas in the camp. He was faced with watching an old friend, Leo, be dragged through an investigation which would damage the Santos campaign and the party and grudging respect for Toby.
Toby must now be gone.
I also liked the way Santos turned the intelligent design scenario into a positive event, very Bartletesque. Josh really does seem to have little control which keeps your interest at least.
I wonder what topics will now follow, Toby will be turned to toast quite quickly, we wait and see.

thats funny i read it that he suspected CJ because he was really abrupt with her during the episode, and when toby said they suspected her he didnt leap to her defence.
it was really poignant at the end when there was a single tear running down her face.
i liked her coffee order too.
im enjoying this season, but i dont really think it is the west wing anymore. we have barely seen potus, cj, charlie. and whats happened to donna and the first lady? (no spoilers please - but do they reappear?)
The script writers are keeping the series alive to the very end - there is no gentle journey to the last episode. I will say no more but you will see all your favourite charecters again but in what context I will not say.
This series has always been masterful and as befits a quality piece of drama its pushing its viewers all the way. Hang on in there and enjoy the ride.
Ohmigod! Martin Sheen is now offically coming to study in my university (NUI Galway)! He'll be in my English lectures most likely! It was only a rumour before but now its for definite! So excited!
I am sure he will have a great time. Galway is a brilliant city - still has a genuine feel of Irishness about it ( unlike Dublin ) and it hops with energy.
This weeks episode was good but I felt a bit sorry for Toby. Much as I admire Prezza I thought he was very much on his high horse in the way he talked to Toby. Toby may well have leaked information to the American public but Bartlett, if I remember properly, was guilty of rather the opposite in not giving information to the great American public which they very much had a right to. Oh well its the rich wot gets the pleasure and the poor wot gets the blame. We have not I think seen the end of Toby!
I don't think that we have seen the end of Toby either but we are getting close.
Given that Toby appeared without leg irons in the first episode of S7 I can't see how he is going to end up in Jail for 6-7 years. Once the Republicans realise that there is going to be little political capital to be made out of this it will die a quiet death.
Toby and Bartlet's relationship has always been one of personal distrust and moral superiority. I think that Bartlet feels let down that Toby breached the confidence when he expressly forbade everyone to do so. Equally Bartlet knows that he did not disclose everything and knows that Toby was right.
I have to say that Toby must have been prime suspect, brother was in a crash but survives, recently dies and Toby is a director of communication. Surely CJ should have tried to restrain him with some sort of pre-emptive strike.
I loved the dialouge between Abby and Bartlet, discussing whether thier daughter was gay - she never seemed it to me and the shock of finding out they were going to be grandparents again. Poor Guy, it must be hard enough without your father in law being leader of the free world and a brain the size of a planet.

Very lucky indeed, I just hope he doesn't wear those waistcoats in lectures. Do you think that the secret service detail are going to get in the way of lectures or will they just sit at the back?
Hi – Newbie so plz be gentle wiv me, but anything in the rumour that Toby NOT the Mole – CJ is!
She realised that Bartlet’s hands were tied and he couldn’t compromise the military shuttle, but wanted to save the astronauts at any cost. She gives enough to old boyfriend for him to publish, forcing the shuttle launch, but unaware of the repercussions of the investigation – boyfriend in jail, etc. Her take on that she has ‘done nothing wrong’ could be read as her believing herself to be morally right.
Point is that both Toby and CJ know that Leo taking stand will utterly destroy the Santos campaign and any chance of a Democrat POTUS. CJ is closer to Bartlet and so Toby takes moral high ground and chooses to fall on the Sword. The congressional hearing will bring little evidence and so he’ll do a minimal term in prison, and therefore be out in less than 3 years time for the opening of the library, dirty shoes, etc…or maybe I’m thinking too much into it.
Agree with many of the streams that seem to have Leo’s and Josh’s characters seem to have been diluted too much within the Santos campaign – Josh less arrogant to Santos than he used to be to Bartlet??
Any word on series 8, or has John Spencer’s sad death taken the wind out of their sails?

1) Welcome newbie, nice to have you onboard. Newbie to forum or also newbie to TWW??
Speaking from a point of view of a guy who is keeping pace with the US, and without spoilers, it is a highly unlikely theory, and regardless, from the spoilers of the final episodes it seems that toby is definitely the leak.
A lot of the "CJ as Leak" theories seem to have come from the same people who slammed the show on various message boards as unwatchable because of the unrealistic promotion of the press secretary to COS, mainly on grounds that she is female, so i've personally treated them with a pinch of salt.
As for Leo / Josh, Leo's character was largely a fish out of water in S7, new to campaining for high public office, so would be a lot less arrogant (John Spencer will be missed). As for josh, a large part of it is that he essentially built Santos as a candidate, so they have a similar relationship to the one enjoyed by Leo / Bartlet, hence not so arrogant as he knows his reputation stands or falls on the advice he gives the candidate.
Regrettably, this is definitely the final series, although i can say that theyt seem to be shaping for the end of the series to be a blinder, so look forward to it. It seems also that they are building toward leaving the show in such a way that it will be possible to pick up a spin-off should such be desired down the road.
So....the west wing, any good? Friends tell me it is brilliant, and I guess it damn well better be because I just bought the box set-"The Bartlet Years",seasons 1-6 for 135 euro. It seemed like too muhc of a bargain to turn down,it was 260euro before Christmas and to buy each season, they are 50euro each. Never seen the show, would be terrible if I hated it! lol Guess I better start watching

Well speaking as a guy who can sit and go a season at a time on DVD, yes its very god. One of the smartest shows on TV. You will not regret your purchase.

they can easily be rewatched coz so much of the pleasure is in the script and the characterisation rather than just the plot. i have taken to putting the subtitles on, as you will be suprised how many comments and jokes you can miss.
views on last nights ep? thought it was up to old west wing standards. good to see donna back and like the way she is asserting herself. is this the writers way of getting a possible romance between her and josh? the problem seemed to be before that she worked directly for him (he even said that once)
if you know DONT SPOIL IT!! im just speculating with others who are watching at the mo!
i keep missing the episodes on more 4 cos i work shifts, missed too many to catch up on, does anyone know when its coming out on dvd??? I'll have to book some time off work to watch them all!! have had to stop using the forum cos i'm spoiling it for myself on the j/d thread. want to watch them all NOW!!
After a slow start I think the season is really starting to warm up now. I'm having to get used to wait a week for a new episode, something that I've not done since season 3! The rest I've watched on DVD virtually in one viewing! Can't wait for the live debate next week!
I'm glad to see the old charaters back, especially a Will is like the season 4 Will, not how he has been acting in the last two seasons.
As for the DVD, I doubt it will be out before September or October as the series isn't going to finish on TV till August. There are always quite a few repeats on during the week.
Does anyone know which live debate episode we're getting? (As they film it twice - once for the east coast and then again for the west coast). And how do they decide which one the use?

It was a good episode, if a little contrived ending, but enjoyable nonetheless. I can't help but feel that Josh is a bit of lightweight as a campaign manager. He is no Toby when it comes to setting the agenda, if anyone had to be fired surely he was close to the top of the list.
Good to see Donna back with strong views you go girl!!

Hi, new to the message boards, but you need to watch each episode a couple of times to get the jokes and nuances that are going on, brilliant... Please do not post spoilers, I want to savour each episode as it comes.

The spoilers need to go in the nbc pace/spoiler thread. Some spoilers also in J/D thread so take care when reading that, too.
