That was 14/22. 8 left. Then that is it. You will never watch a new episode of The West Wing ever again. Meaning it will finish around the end of July. And your life will never be the same.
As much as I am enjoying season 7 (I think it is better than season 6 actually, which spent a long time concentrating on a primary race in which the winner was never really in doubt), I am feeling kind of comfortable with it ending now. I'm not sure that a Santos/Vinick White House would hold quite the same appeal as the Bartlett administration, and it is much better for the show to go out on a high than drift into obscurity. Once season 7 ends, I will just have to console myself with watching the entire show again on DVD.......
Mind you, with only 8 to go, I have this strange pull between wanting the episodes to come quicker and quicker, and yet wanting it to last longer and longer.
This might seem mad but I've just looked at the booklet with season 3 dvd's and read there was supposed to be commentary on 3 of the episodes, am I missing something? thanks
The picture is a bit grainy, and the lip synch is out, but it gives you a good idea of what it will be like. Lots of snappy Sorkin dialogue to savour, and a few familiar faces. According to mediaguardian, C4 will show this in a 10pm slot, with the next episode being shown straight afterwards on More4 (as they do atm with Desparate Housewives and Lost with E4).
I am thinking that this will be a better fix to get me through my West Wing cold turkey than Commander in Chief (which has evidently been cancelled after one season, and which C4 have the rights to show).
I really don't understand why they don't want this to be shown properly - it is *******[dot]com! I have no idea what happened there, but the missing characters in this URL are ***********.
Its nothing but the C4 taste police at work again, they are obviously letting Big Brother go to thier head.
I am constantly surprised at Josh lack of control especially as he has been here twice before (mind you he was particularly easy to wind up at the last election I seem to recall)
Looking forward to seeing how they handle Leo's death with the polls in California still open.
I can also see why scriptwriters refrain from getting couples together for as long as possible. For me Josh and Donna don't really work now that they are an item. Maybe thier not and Donna is purely stopping Josh's head from exploding.
Can't wait till Friday.

This is a known fault with the region 2 DVD's - we didn't get any of the extras promised by the packaging taken straight from the region 1 release.
Warner Brothers really cocked up the DVD sets of the West Wing - I don't think there are extras on any of the region 2 sets (I only have seaons 1, 2 and 5 so far so don't know for sure about the others). They could have put loads of good stuff on as extras. Next time they should take a look at the Seinfeld DVD sets to see how it should be done - a perfect example of a boxset being put together with love and affection....
I thought it was a great way to bring Sam back too.
As I said in the other West Wing thread on here, I am enjoying seeing Josh and Donna getting it together and struggling with the practicalities and implications, but am kind of glad that we'll just see them go off into the sunset. The timing of their coupling in relation to the show's demise seems right to me.
Also worth noting that they are having a West Wing day on Saturday 29th (from midday until 10pm) on More4. They will be showing 10 episodes, comprising Pilot, What Kind of Day has it been, In the Shadow of 2 Gunmen (both parts), The Stackhouse Filibuster, Two Cathedrals, 20 Hours in America (both parts), plus the final two episodes (which will still be repeated again on the Sunday night).
Is it just me or does everyone feel like all their West Wing dreams hve come true? Donna and Josh getting together, Sam returning - I am in heaven! What a great end to the series!!
I have a few favourite episodes not eniterly sure what they are called. However i will tell u the plots and I'm sure you will agree some classic WW's. The one were Josh gets shot, the one were Mrs Laniangham dies, the one were the White house is under seige. These are great episodes and shows the show is flawless...with great writing, acting directing etc. I will miss it. However, I dont want it to become stale like ER.
Nothing from seasons 5 or 6 on that list - I was kind of surprised not to see The Supremes (the one with Glenn Close) on the list, though the decision making process must have been very hard.
According to Radio Times website they are showing a film (The Battle of Britain) next Friday night. From what I have heard about Commander in Chief they may want a bit of a gap between its start and the end of The west Wing to avoid unfavourable comparisons!

having seen commander in chief all i can say is its no west wing!! enjoyable fluff, thats about it.
Even at its worst the West Wing was still better than most other TV shows out there...and at its best it proved it was one of the greatest drama series ever made.
I never expected Commander in Chief to be anywhere near as good...and it isn't from the couple I've seen. But because it doesn't reach the standards of something like the WW doesn't make it bad, so I'm certainly going to keep watching for a bit.
Unless it gets unbearably flag-wavey...

I must admit that I was kind of disappointed with the final episode - it felt a bit flat to me. Does anyone else agree? Maybe I should watch it again to make sure....
The one thing that the final episode did provide for me, however, was closure. Seeing Santos behind the desk, and Josh and Sam in the office at the end made me think they made the right choice to stop when they did. I just can't quite imagine the show continuing with the new administration. We also don't need to follow how Josh and Donna cope with being the respective CoS and having a relationship, 'cos that could have been awful to watch to be honest.
And we have also got a little taster for Studio 60 in amongst the ads on Friday night. I am really hoping that this show will be as good as I am hoping. The cast is outstanding, and I am fully expecting the writing to be great!
