Hi Boscos_lady, I hope you haven't downloaded any nasty Viruses with your episode of Third Watch. I have always been "perhaps" over cautious about allowing such big downloads onto my PC and so think I'll have to wait for series 6 to appear on channel 4, whenever they can get their act together! Frown

I am enjoying the repeats however, as there's always a lot packed into each episode -which makes seeing them two to three times quite a pleasure. I only wish Channel 4 would stop repeating the entire "Friends" catalogue Over and Over Eek

I tried downloading episode 1 of series 6 -but all I get is "page cannot be displayed".
Is the problem with my PC, or is that episod just not available?

when I got my new pc back in January the first thing I did was get rid of Norton security, having it installed does more harm then good............I got someone to come down and check my old pc over and he found way over 5000 viruses(seriously), truth is you will never be able to find how many you got on your pc(without getting a computer geek with all his computer geek gadgets to take a look for you) and you will never be able to block them all, so downloading doesn't really make much difference

it probably depends on what site you use to get the episodes from, if you use the links I posted above then you shouldn't have any problem wth it Cool

Yeah, I agree about Norton. I was having MAJOR problems with my PC and all the anti-virus stuff I tried wasn't helping. I only installed Norton about a month ago and it's been brilliant! Big Grin

hiya kevin! i was always really worried about downloading too, but to tell you the truth i am so fed up with channel 4 (they once agin cut to shreds today's episode 'blackout') im prepared to risk getting some nasty degenerative virus on my computer. it does help to know that the site recommended by rastapuss is safe though. and i do have an anti-virus programme - but not norton, so im crossing my fingers it will all be ok...

i have more questions for all you experts though - how do i burn these episodes onto cd? my windows media player wont do it, and which type of file is better quality avi or mpg?

ive downloaded episodes 1-6 of season 6 so far, they are great and no problems. i think that to burn them onto dvds you need a special dvd writer, either internal or external. it costs up to £100 depending on type, and a lot also do cds as well. thats my next investment, the episodes take up a lot of room on the hard drive, so i will need to copy them before i download more - and i have to coz this season is great! You have to see how glam they make faith this year!

ps - can people use spoiler alerts before they mention anything to come - i want the last episode to be a surprise!

Hi Boscos_lady, I have got the Norton AV protection so I'll probably have a try at the downloading of Season 6 TW. I must say though it looks a fiddly and time consuming business as theres a Peer to peer "software" download to be done too.
As to copying the episodes to DVD -you will need a DVD Burner and software, which will set you back £100 plus (from what I can tell). Also, the files you download may have some sort of protection which may prevent you from Burning to DVD anyway!

So you'd best look into the file protection issues before forking out for a DVD Burner/Software -sorry if this is a downer on your plans!

I can't afford a dvd rewriter, so I just burn all of my episodes onto regular cds. It works fine in my windows media player - you just have to copy them as data cds as opposed to audio ones. Hope that woks for you boscos_lady! Smile

I downloaded that Peer to Peer software... but didn't like the look of some of the security issues that could arise! So I Booted the program off.

I prefer to keep my PC just that "Personal".

Good luck to anyone else who does want those TW episodes desperately! It's just something I'm prepared to Wait for Smile

Has anyone mentioned that RTE are currently showing S6? I've been able to watch from Ep 4 when the transmission was broadcast to NI. I know there are discussions on the disitalspy forums about people trying to get hold of an NI address which doesn't currently have Sky installed so they can change their subscription address to it. Sky will then enable their card to receive RTE.

I'll begin by paying tribute to our favourite show which airs it's final episode today in the US. im so sad it's finishing over there and angry that it never got the credit that it so richly deserved either here or in the US, but all good things must come to an end i guess...RIP Third Watch. Frown

ok so thanks to everyone that helped me out with that question about burning the eps - ras, happy, kevin and ms rox. if i was in charge you'd all get sparkly stars. Winki did try out your method rox, and it worked a treat so thank you. there's no way i could afford the software to burn it!!

kevin - i totally understand that you are wary of these downloading sites. it is a risk, but im a woman on the verge and i fear for my sanity if i dont get access to the un-edited eps!! Big Grin

happy - im working my way through series 2 and three at the moment (i'm also downloading collateral damage part 2 from series 4 which has the scene where bos and cr*z get it on -i wanna see it in all it's gory detail, since c4 cut it Wink). cant wait to see season 6 though!!

" Like her or hate her, you can’t deny Cruz (Texada) lit a fire at the 55th Precinct this season. No longer just an antagonist, she emerged as one of the more complex characters in the show. "

So true.you gotta love her!
