i can't be seen.

Even though he says he doesnt want to be seen because Jack will send him away, i still think he seemed a bit too desperate

and the fact that we dont no anything about his past really, and no one has seen Eli ever.

i hope he's imaginary, it would make for a great storyline

Yeah, having watched the E4 episode it definitely does seem that he is imaginary. I mean not only did no one speak to him, even when he made a comment towards Steph, but nobody even looked remotely in his direction!!

Do you think maybe Newt's mentally ill?

Totally. At first I was a little doubtful, but now I'm convinced he's imaginery. All the signs were pointing towards it in the E4 ep.

eli is deffo imaginary....proof is from today's e4 ep. he was prancing around the pub talkin to newt and nobody even saw him or acknowlegde that he was there, he even said sometime to tom and tom totally didnt even flicker.

also, in the video spoilers for next week, where he's hiding under the bed and wants newt to get the videocam back from jack so jack wont see him... i just think the reason newt needs the camera back is so jack wont see him talking to himself

yeah kinda, but i think Newt thinks that Eli is real, not that he's talking to himslef

Newt mentioned him to Lauren though, saying hed help them run away but Lauren hasnt yet seen him

i think he isnt real but newt think he is that why he mentioned him to lauren also hollyoaks is tryin to get us as viewer to believe he real that why is was mentioned and why it looked like he was tallking to them guys outside the pub on yesterday episode

I's probablt multiple personality disorder. When something traumatic happens, that person wants to block it out so they invent this other person who has all the bad memories that they want to forget. Said person is not even conciously aware that the other "person" does not exist. Subconciously they do as someone previously said that Newt wants it back to Jack doesn't se him talking to himself. I belive that this is what Newt is subconciously thinking.

you dont have to be mentally ill too have an imaginary friend! loads of children do but they grow out of it.

i always an imaginary friend like Drop Dead Fred!

I think he just has had some development problems because of his childhood so I suppose he would be a few years behind his real age.

Glad others are thinking this, I was watching yesterdays E4 episode and I started thinking, "This guy's imaginary"...reminded me of Drop Dead Fred. I think it's a cool and unique storyline for a soap to attempt.

i really hope Eli is imaginary, that would make for a wicked storyline, i bet he's something to do with that dead body that Newt saw when he was a kid

I was thinking this last night.... is hollyoaks becoming a bit too predictable that even the more farfetched storylines are figured out?

what about the time that he was in the pub and he was saying stuff to steph when she was talking to newt she didn't turn around to see who it was and then also when jack was giving newt his lunch eli walked right past jack and said something jack didn't even notice

i hope that he is imaginary coz it would make a really good story line.


maybe is if he is imaginary it might be coz newt was lonely in the children's home and then the tought of eli as a friend. just a thought

i think newt really belives tha eli is real but one day eli will turn around an say hes not real like say he is actually newt...tht make sense if youve seen fght club youll understand..like it wasactually newt that did all the things that eli did...kick the kegs over...etc...any1 think so?
