The rumour is that Newt is dyslexic, so Nancy helps him out - meaning that he comes round to Nancy's and Jake's. Jake doesn't like this - possesive as he usually is - and persuades Nancy to stop giving him extra lessons. When she doesn't, that's when Jake reports her to the police.

this is happening because of becca and justin. they didnt damage him in that way.
he treated becca in a controlling manner and she was strong enough to get away. jake refuses to acknowledge that if hed been just slightly better as a husband (not trying to stop her working and have kids immediately, grabbing her by her wrists etc ) then she wouldnt have strayed. shed have felt loved and appreciated whilst being allowed top be her own person.
what hes doing to nancy is to control her, hes just learnt how to do it more successfully.
he hasnt suddenly got all paranoid and thinking historys repeating, hes trying to keep her in his control. if shes under investigation she'll turn to him and she'll need him and then when cleared she'll relalise she cant live without him whilst not wanting to be a teacher so she can be a good housewifey like he wants.
he hasnt just gone nasty, hes always been that way, just got better.
this paticular turn of events shows the depths to which he will sink as he destroys nancy with this accusation, mud sticks afterall.
he hopes to get away with it, i hope he gets discovered by her, she gets away and the police charge him with wasting police time, or harrassment or something and then he clears off as hes the biggest git ever.
You really don't like Jake do you? I feel rather sorry for the guy. Even though I don't like his behaviour I can see where it has come from - not that I'm excusing it of course. He is just the sum of his experiences as we all are - I think someone else said that already!

Why should we like Jake. He's unlikable. I was hoping Nancy would get rid of him after the accusations, but if Jake does it anonymously then he's even worse than I thought!
i think unless they are going to try and turn jake into a mean character then they should make him overcome his insecurities either with counselling etc because i hate the new jake

Jake is so weird, he proposes and then goes all loopy, she wouldnt say yes is she was sleeping with newt, god they try so hard to make the relationship work and jake goes paraniod

jake isnt really being affected by the past as he tried to do to becca what he is doing to nancy, but with her he failed. due to her vulnerability with grief and watching him play dad to her nephew, nancy is an easy target. he might be paranoid about being cheated on but he cheated first and has conveniently forgotten about that. nor has he confronted why his wife cheated - if the relationship was perfect you dont cheat. so when there appears to be a problem with him and nancy he cant work it out. instead he phones the police and not because hes paranoid.
he asks her to stop tutoring newt as hes not getting enough attention, especially now their engaged, he should be no1 in her life. she refuses, so he punishes her and in doing so she will turn to him in her hour of need thus making him no1. it is another attempt to control nancy, it is not paranoia that shell cheat - shes just not allowed a life especially if it doesnt involve him.
hes a violent thug who beat nancys sister in front of her but she has forgotten that, which horrifies me. but due to this and other things (drink driving, attempted murder or kidnap on justin, no matter the motives, those are wrong) im afraid i cant like him - my morals wont allow it.
hes doing the same to nancy without lifting his fists. if he was truly affected by the past he would be making a concerted effort to let nancy have a life as by trying to stop becca led to her leaving, but know that he loves her and shed run home from work to be with him. he also be there when she came home rather than down the pub with malachy etc. if he is caught up in the past its his own doing as history is repeating, but calling the police and the other aspects of the manipulation isnt down to being cuckolded - he has no control; no real job, not main breadwinner, not really sure if hes the daddy so as he has no control over anything, but he can if he controls nancy.
he wants a naming ceremony for charlie, she doesnt. a little emotional blackmail later and she tells him she'll do whatever he wants as she needs him. she agrees with the naming ceremony and at it he proposes using beccas ring. steph points this out but he makes everyone believe it is some sort of tribute to becca and that she'd love them to marry.
even if he wasnt doing what hes doing theres no way becca would want her sister marrying any of her fellas - its not done. but nancy falls for it and it makes her more in love with jake and more under his control than ever before - until she chooses newt over him again, hence the phonecall reporting her for underage sex as a puinishment as hes feeling a wee bit neglected.
its hardly her fault he has no friends, or a job etc.
lets just face it, Jake has got some serious issues and until they're sorted out we're just going to have to put up with him being an absolute nugget! but has any1 else noticed how he's just turned into like this weird psycho guy, literally overnight. Doesn't nancy also get pregnant? not a fact, just hearsay from other threads
