I don't that this is truek, but what if hes a ghost, an old friend of Newt's that only Newt can see

didnt eli say something bout newt finding a dead boy.. (when he was younger) around the time when he and lauren found sean? maybe hes the ghost/imaginary boy of who he found??

I think Eli is that boy Newt found dead. Im looking forward to this storyline alot!

i never thought that eli is the boy that newt found dead, but i hope it is true, its a really good idea and can't wait.

When Frankie was talking to Newt in todays E4 Eli suddenly disappered! I really hope he is a ghost and not just imaginary!

I can't wait to see what happens!

Eli a Ghost - Possibly however can you see a soap with a ghost as a character? Its nost the most beleivable of storylines and if he is a ghost then WTF are the writers thinking

Eli Imaginary - To me this is the most likely explanation. Hes not real, hes a self defence mechanism that Newt has to deal with tough situations, eg finding dead body, scared of being sent back etc.

Eli A Split Personality - My close second to the imaginary idea. Newt seems on the whole to be a good guy whilst Eli is the opposite. Defo a possibility

Eli Real - Its possible that he is real but teh longer he goes without being seen the less and less likely it is. Surely someone would have mentioned him, seen him by now..

So how come he walked all around the pub, lived under Newts bed, eat and slept in teh dog yet no one has seen him, heard him? Surely someone saw him that day he was in everyones faces in the dog? Surely someone heard him go to the loo? Surely someone must have noticed Newt sneaking loads of food into his room?

yeah but he bullies newt and he was meant to be some were why would you say your on the run if your not real. unless the lepricorns are angry. He not a ghost of the boy he found because he convided in eli at the time.

He bullies Newt because hes in his head... Like a split personality. Hes the dark side to Newt that does bad things.

Newt obviously had some sort of treatment for this in the past, Eli went away and when he saw the dead body in the woods it triggered something and POOF! hes back.

I wont beleive that hes real until someone else other than Newt interacts with him.

Newt talks about Eli as if hes real. Did Lauren ever meet Eli? Nope! When Newt gets stressed out over anything major he needs a safe place which is Eli. If hes in trouble he turns to Eli.

Eli is either imaginary or a split personality of Newt. HES NOT REAL!

newt hasn't had a troubled life.

Think you'll find he has... In and out of foster homes, bad mother was was either addcited to drugs of alcohol. Found two dead bodys? Doesnt really have a home since hes always scared hes going to get sent back.

I think the end of tonight's E4 episode was the strongest evidence yet that Newt has mental problems and that Eli is imaginary, but to answer your question anyway...

Eli exists only in Newt's mind - but Newt believes he is real. He said tonight, 'Eli never lets me down' - when he is in trouble, he turns to Eli, so when he and Lauren were panicking, thinking they'd killed Elliot, Newt's instinct was to want Eli. But he never gave any details of where Eli might be found, never told Lauren any more of who Eli was, and Lauren never met him.

Newt has been essentially abandoned by his mother and has spent his life being shunted from foster home to foster home. He doesn't have anything stable or dependable in his life, so he created something dependable in Eli.
