The best statement yet!
JP loves Kieron. He will ask him to marry him. He's not "upset" now because quite frankly, his family is in shambles and he partly blames himself for it, so in a way, Kieron's absence is a godsend. Hence, no breakdown. I mean good grief, his sister almost died.
But Kieron isn't just absent. As I said, it's not as if Kieron went away for a long weekend and left a note. JP has no idea where he went or if he'll EVER see him again. He could be gone for good, for all JP knows. You consider a loved one up and leaving, abandoning them, when they know their partner's sister nearly died, to be a "godsend"?
Does JP propose out of "love" or does he propose for another reason, after a fight with Kieron perhaps, with Kieron thinking maybe the relationship can't withstand the pressure of Myra's displeasure and thinks about breaking things off? Or does another mention of Craig by someone cause JP to move his relationship with Kieron to the next level?
Not to mention the fact that Craig proposed to Sarah, too, but if you recall, it wasn't out of love and it wasn't because he had thought it out and planned it or that he even wanted to get married. More mirroring, I suspect. We'll find out soon enough.
