With all their skeletons now finally out of the closet, it seems possible teenage lovebirds Amy and Josh can begin a new relationship on a clean slate. However, for the latter, a baby that his girlfriend conveniently forgot to tell him about is one thing too much, and he ends their budding affair for good. His mum then decides on an impromptu trip to France for the family, which leaves Amy feeling lonely with no boyfriend and no daughter, as Kathy refuses to let her have anything to do with Leah. Meanwhile, Leo tries to convince Calvin to return to work, but the policeman baulks at his suggestion and instead lets slip a secret about the night Clare was pushed. Could he be the real culprit behind the crime? Elsewhere, Mercedes and Russ return from their honeymoon, but the new Mrs Owen runs straight into trouble when she sees Louise, realising her worries about Warren are far from over. The beautician asks her to tell the police the truth about the night Clare was attacked but, too scared of ruining her relationship with her new husband, Mercedes tells her nemesis to back off and leave her alone. Hannah's eating disorder intensifies when Melissa encourages the adolescent to stop thinking about food and remain on her strict exercise regime, and John Paul enjoys an afternoon with Spike.
