Hopefully some people will be able to help with this, so bear with me while I waffle awhile...to weed out those that can't. (Only kidding) Big Grin Big Grin

I have a comedy profile on a certain 'social networking site' and have been uploading the odd video of my stuff. (Hang on, mods...easy on the 'delete' key, hear me out Big Grin ) Now, one that I enjoyed doing (and had good feedback about) is a story-based audio clip, admittedly it's short but I'd like to expand on it. Basically it's a comedy radio show...voices & characters, narrative, sound effects, music...think Mighty Boosh, Goon Show etc. (Not that I'm comparing myself to those guys but you get the gist).

Now (here comes the point...huzzah!) to put it all together on the computer I used Guitar Tracks Pro and a dash of Audacity. Not ideal but it did the trick (if a bit cumbersome at times). I was wondering if anyone (whether they've tried this sort of thing or not) has any better ideas/suggestions/software? Something open-source would be genius, but obviously I'm happy to open the ol' creaky wallet! Big Grin

Cheers in anticipation... Smile

Tried to find you on another site but no luck. Midgetgems LOVES messing with audio (and the goonies) so PM him as he's done a few podcasts on the Tunes of i.

Sounds good, Floppy - best of luck with it... Thumbs Up

There was some talk here on the Forum a while back, about trying to get something similar off the ground, which we'd all contribute to and release as a podcast... The thing kind of petered out after Christmas, but I'm hopeful we can pick up steam again one day... Podcasts are definitely what it's all about now - and delivering comedy in bitesize, iPod friendly portions... Nod

Re: Software... I think you're on the right track already there... I use 'Windows Movie Maker' myself, as well as a dedicated audio recording software application from 'Creative'... You can get fancy and use software for 'hiss' and 'pop' reduction, and to 'normalize' the volume levels throughout a longer piece... But in the end, the finished file comes out pretty much the same whatever you initially record it on... I'd say a better route to acheiving a highly polished result, might be to invest in a more expensive, professional grade microphone, with pop guard (either purchased or improvised)... Cool

Cooledit and Fruityloops.

Audacity feels a bit clunky to me, Cooledit is nice and precise.

And once you get used to Fruityloops, you can quickly rearrange anything and make it sound fluid and good. It's a very basic programme but also lets you get smart with it as well.

Hope this helps..

Thanks for your feedback & help guys. Smile

Nice to know I'm not the only one into this sort of thing, so I'll certainly be checking out the suggestions.

...shame there's no dedicated program tho... Hmmmm. Smile

I fear that a link may be deleted, so you'll have to trust me that MY stuff is on another SPACE on the net, neatly tucked in the COMEDY section. I've used a different name tho, to keep the odd PILLOCK off my CASE. Smile

...what a fiendish trail of breadcrumbs... Wink

LOL... I found them!... Laugh

Tapped in the appropriate search words, and up they came... I immediately watched all five currently posted... Very nice job... Thumbs Up

'Work' was a fun radio skit, with some great sound effects, and the "walking on water/treading on grapes" gag had a nice build up and pay off in the stand-up routine, too... Enjoyed... Nod

Hey Seth,

Thanks for your kind words, you flatterer you. Blush

It's nice to hear that others are ok with my stuff, and it's not just friends and family giving me the "Yes, very good...there there!" treatment. Big Grin

So far (as you can see) each vid is different, just trying out different ideas (of which I've got loads) to see what works & what doesn't. But saying that I am working on 'Work - Day 2' at the mo. Smile

Thanks again for taking the trouble to find me out and the positive feedback. Thumbs Up
