Just to tell you fellers about this competition, previously known as The Sitcom Trials.
I believe Every1sacritic is due to relaunch itself soon, and I have to say it's really worth entering if you're interested in developing a sitcom idea.
I entered 2 scripts into The Sitcom Trials last year, and seeing your work performed in front of a live audience is an incredibly informative and rewarding experience. You'll also get the chance to make some useful contacts, and receive helpful feedback from a cast and director.
I'm still in touch with the organisers, so I'll be sure to post updated details, if you guys are interested.
That sounds great... Please keep us updated. I don't really have anything ready but I work best under pressure (deadlines) - or atleast that's what I tell myself when I'm in a "low motivational period"!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you think that my goose is cooked?
The best stuff does tend to come out of lashing it together on a tight deadline... Rather than working on it a leisure - you just end up chopping and changing everything and obsessing over little details that probably don't matter... Whereas when the clock's ticking, you go with your first instinct, which tends to be right...
This 'sitcom trials' sounds interesting... I think if you have some stuff that's kind of there, but not quite, a live run-through would definitely help establish where things need tightening... I like it...
Fantastic stuff - thanks for that Symon... I shall be venturing in their direction in the very near future...
Good news about them taking sketch material, too - that seems like a tailor-made op for people like JunkMales and The Slaggs to showcase themselves... I wonder if we could get a '4Laughs Super Compendium' of stuff together to submit, too... A kind of 'best of the site', if you like... Maybe a Top Ten, or whatever they want??... Could be an exciting way to get as many people's work seen as possible...
I think this'd be a great one for the 'User Blog'... With some info about the process and how it went last year etc... That would certainly promote it wider and get more interested...
A not so funny point to note, is that they charge a reading fee of five pounds a shot for submitted scripts (obviously to cover admin and staging costs for the finalists etc)... I usually don't agree with that - Agents etc who charge reading fees, for the most part, are best avoided...
Will have to give it some more thought - but still looks an interesting op...
Ah now I understand. 'every1's a critic'. I was reading it as every1 sacritic and I was wondering what the hell 'sacritic' was. There I was happy to go along pretending I knew what it was. How dopey am I!
