Following a night in a hotel with her married lover, Peter Harris, Inspector Gina Gold is shocked when his wife turns up at Sun Hill asking for help. Mary Harris tells her that Peter has disappeared and she has been sent his wedding ring, with a note saying, ‘How much is your husband worth?’ Having twigged that Peter is the man Gina has been sleeping with, Sergeant Smithy insists she informs the DI as she was probably the last person to see him and therefore, a suspect. Gina confesses to DI Neil Manson that she can’t interview Mary because she was with Peter at the hotel and he agrees to remain discreet about Gina’s affair, but stresses that Peter’s safety is paramount.
Gina talks to Mary’s neighbour, Barry, who explains how he has been friends with Peter and Mary for years and would like Gina to be discreet during the investigation as Peter has had many affairs and he would hate for Mary to find out about them. Meanwhile, DI Sam Nixon is annoyed with Neil for neglecting to mention Gina’s relationship with Peter, after discovering a blackmail note and surveillance photos of Gina and Peter in Peter’s office.
Through further investigation, DC Mickey Webb traces some emails which have been sent to Mary from the kidnapper who sent them from a cyber café and after checking the CCTV, he realises that Barry has kidnapped Peter. Meanwhile, Gina and Mary break into Barry’s house when they smell petrol and are horrified to discover Peter tied to a chair with Barry standing over him with a lit match. Mary clings to Gina for comfort not realising she is the ‘other’ woman…
