New American comedy series My Name Is Earl kicks off on Channel 4 on Friday 6th January at 10pm. Episodes will be repeated on E4 on the following Thursdays and Sundays.

I'm not sure I get this programme, it's almost funny but not quite. Good general story but I think the redneck thing is a bit overdone.

THe whole joke about the karma in my name is earl, is that Earl doesnt really understand exactly what Karma is!!

I'm a big Jason Lee fan (earl) so i'll be watching to see if it's any good. I really like him in the view askew films he's been in especialy Dogma, i hope it's not as bad as it looks

Is the concept that if you do bad (or good) to people you will get the same amount of whichever back? Not necessarily in same lifetime?

I've always thought it was a way for people to avoid being helpful to someone in trouble - i.e. "it's their own fault/bad karma" but maybe I've only met nasty people who embrace such ideas.

Anyhow, the trailers are quite funny, which is unusual for a comedy.

ok, i have a diffrent view i didn't exactly like the episode, it was ok and it's great that set in out-doors but how dumb is Earl-i'm sorry second kid who wasn't his son-it rather obvious who the father was, i admit if there more 1 afican american on show you wouldn't be sure but there 1 and kid had same hair-style.

Another thing i didn't like was when he found out guy he needed to help was Gay, that promotes wrong message don't you think?, yes he did help him after his ex-wife hits him over the head with telephone, i don't think she entitled to money since she divorced him while in hospital, that awful.

lastly he said 123 more to go- so what happends after 123th episode of this show? if it get cancelled before that, it's fine but it survived writer can't make up bad things he done because people would remember pilot.
