Can anyone help?I have a 2 yr old bitch that is petrified of fireworks.It has got so bad that she even trembles when people kick a football round outside. This wasnt a problem until last year when she saw another dog being scared of them. I have had some success with distraction methods like playing with toys and rewarding with treats but this is not always possible if she is too distressed.This is really upsetting me I love this dog and cant stand to see her thus,also tranqs arent practical due to the unexpectedness of the noisers. I only know that my dog loves fireworks and put it down to picking her up as a puppy and when the fireworks went off being really excited and making a game of it, she is the same with thunder. As I am frightened of thunder I didn't want it to rub off on her so I did the same again, kept hold of her and pretended to be excited about it. (I am still frightened but the dog isn't)

Keep the dog in a lit room with the TV on fairly loud.
If you normally walk the dog around this time, either take her out earlier whilst it is stil fairly lightish. Or delay it until after 10:30. Don`t leave her on her own.
There`s not a lot you can do with a dog that scared of fireworks.
But what was she doing out last year when fireworks were being let off?
