I have a 2 year old British bulldog and would like some advice on his sudden behaviour problems. Until recently his training had gone very well but all of a sudden he will not walk off his lead, he just lays down until you put the lead back on him. Also this is affecting his toilet training as he isn't doing his business on his walks and so has started doing it in the house in various places. Please help I am very confused as to why this has started.

i wish i could help but i know nothing about dogs.
is there a field or park near you where other dog owners meet?
perhaps you could take a walk there and get into conversation with other owners and glean a few pearls of wisdom from them.

I`m not quite understanding why the fact that he doesn`t like being off the lead means he no longer does his business when out.

My dogs were always on the lead when they did theirs.

As to suddenly not liking being off the lead, well, he`s probably met an unfriendly dog while off the lead, and now feels safe while on it, knowing you`ll protect him.

Perhaps, for the time being, you keep him on his lead, and keep walking him until he does his business. If you make no attempt to let him off his lead, he`ll settle down again.

Might be an idea to go somewhere completely different for his walks so as to remove him completely from the place where he`s been scared.
