Robert Beckford’s The Secrets of the 12 Disciples (Easter Day) was interesting, but once again he clings onto religiosity despite the whole point of his programme apparently being to expose “the church” as a Disney-type conglomerate only after tourists and their cash.
I had to highlight Beckford’s similar illogicality in his Secret Family of Jesus programme on Christmas Day 2006, followed by a similar lack of logic in his Hidden Story of Jesus last Christmas Day.
The latest offering suggested that those with first-hand knowledge of Christ - his brothers - would have considered the claim that he was the son of God as ludicrous. Why in exposing the church’s lies does Beckford then continue to believe in those lies? Why does he waste our time with his exposés if they are unworthy?
He concludes that we can all be disciples by doing good deeds. Look, old son, we can all do good deeds without buying into divinity. Just because you have been brainwashed, so much so that you can’t be de-programmed even by your own findings, it doesn’t mean we can’t think laterally and see religion for what it really is - utter twaddle.
