This is a plea to the eidtor of these web boards and of channel 4 in general. We all know that Lost has gone to sky. I know a perfect programme to replace it: Firefly. It got cancelled in the US, but has a massive fan base over here, and has had great DVD sales. It would fit in the Lost gap quite nicely, and it would be its first showing on terrestrial TV. As a fan this would be fantastic. This would also open the rights for you to be able to show the film Serenity, and get more viewers. You could ignore me out of hand but please check aroudn the web for statistics: it would be a great buy.

Yea sci fi have the rights atm, but in response to the whol axed thing: it may have got axed in America but it has had an amazing reception over here, and i think the British are sensibleenough not to show it in the wrong order. Wink

Sorry mate.

Serenity was not the highest grossing film in 2005.

Unfortunatly the Star Wars film (crap though it was) earnt far more than serenity.

However, Serenity did make the number 1 slot when it came out, despite not all cinema complexes showing it.

It did come top as film of the year in Jonathan Ross`s year end poll. Even though Jonathan Ross himself was disparaging about the "rabid fan base" who voted (obviously we were more passionate about our film than the star wars fans were about theirs! )

Grandslam has a point though.

Serenity did make the number 1 slot for the week it came out. The following week it was knocked of the #1 slot by Wallace and Grommit`s Curse of the were rabbit.

I went and saw the movie Serenity quite a few times. The audiences were "ok" the first week. But from the second week onwards all the afternoon showings I went to had, at most, 10 people in the audiences.

Audience figures just reaching double figures do not make a "highest grossing film of the year" in it`s second week at the cinema.

Personally I thought that Serenity was massively superior to the last Star Wars film. But even in it`s 4th and 5th weeks at the cinema, Star Wars was showing to full audiences.

this is the problem with internet fandom, you get a series like Firefly, a great series, but not good ratings, people join a forum talk about how great it was.

a mircale happens and a movie comes out, and all those people basking in there own love of Firefly, suddenly are unable to see beyond the forum (internet) as to how well the movie did commercaily.
