I have rehomed a second staffie who was mistreated, although our older boy is the perfect dog she is not following his role. She is the perfect dog when we are in the house, however as soon as we take her out she does nothing but pull and 'scream'.
I have tried taking her back to basics training, using a harness and also using two leads (one with a choke chain and one on the harness) as mentioned on an episode of the dog whisperer. However all she wishes to do is get away from the lead, she whines as soon as we put it on and does the whole time we are out, she also 'screams' and trys to drag as soon as she sees another dog which automatically makes other dogs wary.
Can you please offer any tips as to how I can help her, I have tried some of the points above including distracting her with noises, treats and toys however these are not appearing to have an affect.
I have also noticed that she is becoming extremely jealous over her toys and treats towards our other dog,, she does not wish to 'play' with her toys just have them all around her meaning that our boy can't.
Therefore you knew you would have problems with her.
Take her to a PROFESSIONAL dog therapist.
Any advice anyone on here can give would only be general advice.
A professional dog therapist will assess the dog itself and will advice accordingly.
Your vet, or a good pet shop, will know the name of such a professional.
