quote: Tennant's new 'Who' companion announced
Wednesday, July 5 2006, 09:52 BST - by Neil Wilkes
Newcomer Freema Agyeman has been named as Billie Piper's replacement on Doctor Who.
Agyeman will join as Martha Jones - described as "the perfect foil for the Doctor" - from the third series of the show, due to air early next year.
"Auditioning with David in secret down in Cardiff was unbelievable, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd actually become the new companion," she said. "Billie rightfully built up an amazing fan base and she will be missed, but I hope the fans are willing to go on new adventures with me."
Agyeman, a 27-year-old Londoner, got the part after starring as Adeola in episode 12 of the current series.
"Watching her during filming confirmed what an exciting new talent she was, so under cover of darkness we called her back in to audition with David for the role of the new companion," said exec producer Russell T Davies.
"David and Freema are terrific together, and we're delighted to have chosen her to join the Doctor for more adventures in time and space."
He added: "Martha won't be featured in this year's Christmas special - we've got another surprise in store for that."

The place I work in put that story up as well yesterday. My boss is a DW fan. Can we talk about Doomsday? No spoilers to keep Grandslam happy and personal hopes/theories on the episodes outcome to keep everyone else happy/somewhat interested? I still think Rose could die. Hope not but it's likely.

Ouch, just trying out some humour. Besides not too long to wait now though. Today's been miserable with rain so this episode should be a cheer.

WOW....thats all I can say about tonight's episode. It was moving, funny, and kick ass in equal parts. It was interesting to see how they 'killed' off Rose, but I think they did it in a good way...And the ending......well it will be interesting to see Christmas episode. Loved the way one Cyberman or rather Cyberwoman rebelled - as the leader of Torchwood she still managed to kick some Cybermen ass. But will miss my Saturdays with Dr Who....

The Daleks wanted the prison ship as it contained Daleks thus taking over the world - they couldn't have dominated everywhere without those extra million Daleks.

No I think the Time Lords put the Daleks in there - hence Time Lord technology.

Yeah, I just presumed the Time Lords had put them in there. Reason why it shapped like a Dalek maybe som can't move around much once inside - an extra punishment maybe. I just though however it was Time Lords who put them there since it was their technology.

Well maybe it was early days sent the Daleks to these ships but then the tide changed, and they were all wiped out (time lords that is) except the Doctor, and as he said tonight the Dalek's fled, and have been unable to free them. But am just speculating.
