hmmm...this was put on the BB news page at 9.24...Eviction nights are tough enough. But when it's your housemates who deliver the killer blow, that's really gotta hurt. In tonight's ultra-mean twist, Big Brother put the Gurus on the spot and made them choose this week's evictee in one of the most nail-biting Friday nights the House has ever seen.
You've been voting in your numbers this week but Carole and Gerry received the most votes. Then, in the cunning Guru twist that Big Brother devised, Ziggy, Tracey and the twins had to make the agonising decision about who to evict between the two.
Gerry took the Gurus' decision like a man, but you had to feel for him.
His self-styled intellectualism didn't exactly go down well with some of the booze and kebab-loving crowd who felt he lorded over them once too often, and his refusal to enter into House arguments (at least until Biscuitgate and Watergate kicked off) meant that the other housemates perhaps found him too aloof for his own good.
Then, of course, there's the fact that the housemates don't like a fibber, and Gerry showed himself to be just that when he was rumbled in the Lie Detector Test. If you're going to lie about your age Gerry, at least knock more than two years off!
And it's just a theory, but the Lie Detector could well have been the deciding factor in Gerry's eviction. After all, the housemates' faces were like thunder when they watched him on the plasma screen saying yes, he would betray a fellow housemate to win the prize money, and yes, he did have a gameplan. Oh, why Gerry, why?!
Ta ta, Gerry. And so long, Freddie...
then was hurriedley replaced as main story by this...Tonight, Carole and Gerry found out that they were the two housemates with the most public votes. Unknown to the housemates, Carole had polled 49% of the public vote, whilst Gerry had received 24%.
On hearing that he and Carole had the most public votes, Gerry accepted the news calmly.
"We knew that, we knew that, we knew that," Gerry assured the other housemates, before standing up and hugging Carole.
And when the Gurus were then told to choose to evict one of the two, Gerry knew what he wanted them to say.
"Gerry," he pleaded. "I want Carole to win the money. Show them I don't want the money."
The twins looked shocked, but obeyed, while Tracey and Ziggy announced Gerry's name more simply.
"I knew there would be a twist and I'm absolutely fine with it," Gerry told his fellow housemates. "It is very, very important for me for Carole to stay. This is the right thing."
He then hugged Carole again. "I want you to stay here and be the mother. I would have never won. I want you to stay here and win the money. This is my proof that in this b***** truth I would never have..." he trailed off, referring to this week's lie detector test, in which he confessed that he would betray a fellow housemate for the £100,000 prize.
"We had a difficult week, me and Carole," Gerry said passionately, "And unfortunately people see the latest... It's only two weeks left. And I'll be campaigning for this woman to get the prize. I am still young, I can work for it. I want to prove to the world and myself that I'm not the greedy b****** that they think I am! I'm going to prove to them that they were wrong."
"Gerry, if you hadn't said you wanted to be voted, it would have been a hard one," Ziggy told him.
"I'm absolutely fine," Gerry promised. "You've all done the right thing. It's my eviction night, and I'll enjoy my eviction night. I'm doing something good! Now don't make me cry, 'cause I'm wearing mascara."
Holding a crying Carole, he said, "I love you! You're a grumpy woman, but I'm going to come back for you."
He then vowed to the housemates, "Tomorrow I'll be eating burgers and pizza, and you'll be eating pasta! I'm leaving a happy bunny. And I hope some friendships are here, 'cause we've spent a long, long time together."
Here's hoping, Gerry - we'll miss you!
hmmm....*strokes chin*
