The Simple Life: Interns started on Channel 4 last Saturday. There'll be a double bill this week starting at 11:55am.
The L Word- No Plans to acquire this.
Six Feet Under- Unfortunately, the audience levels for this show are not sufficient to justify a run on Channel 4. We hope that a large majority of the show's loyal fans will be able to see this final series on E4, though we appreciate that those without access to the channel will be disappointed.
Everybody Loves Raymond- DZA, I have posted as much information on this as is available. To give a final clarification, the rights issues will have nothing to do with what classification the show has on video/dvd. Do try and put this in perspective; out of nine series' of this show, two episodes have been withheld because of legitimate legal concerns which we hope to resolve in due course. It is not a "mess" or a "disaster", though you're obviously an extremely keen fan and I do understand you want to see all the available episodes.
The programme about schoolchildren mentioned in The Times is called The Unteachables, and is due to be shown later this year.
More4- The channel launches on the 10th of October. It should be on Freeview channel 13. It's completely understandable that the marketing campaign could lead to confusion over the channel's content. Unless you have a specific interest in the television industry you'd be fairly unlikely to know anything about More4, and the marketing is deliberately misleading at this stage- it will become clearer as the campaign progresses.

Ever think that the reason for poor ratings on Channel 4 was the time slot that you put it in? Ethan.

i know for fact it will shown next tuesday DOCUMENTARY: The Unteachables Channel: Channel 4 4 Date: Tuesday 27th September 2005 Time: 21:00 to 22:00 Duration: 1 hour. This four-part series features 16 underachieving and extremely challenging 13-year-olds, who have been labelled as 'disaffected' by the state education system. These apparently 'unteachable' kids are either completely disengaged or are so abusive and disruptive in school that permanent exclusion is inevitable. In this groundbreaking project, four leading teachers try to turnaround these these bottom-of-the-class kids and every teacher's nightmare, and inspire them to become hardworking pupils with a future. Over four months, the children are given the opportunity to experience a whole new way of learning with a strategy that has never been tried before. The education team is tested to the extreme by the teenagers and each other as they struggle to keep their reputations intact and the pupils engaged. This week revolutionary English teacher, Phil Beadle has just one weekend to try and get all 16 children to buy into the plan. He will assess their learning potential and try to get them on board with activities such as the 'dick head game' and Kung Fu punctuation. Will he manage to win them over before chaos engulfs he project? (Subtitles)

thanks for the feedback... but it was pointless showing this new season, if you wasn't going to show it in full... Would of been better if channel 4 let other english channel buys the rights, who would of shown the full season. The only way we are going to see it, when Paramount get the rights now, which wont be till next year. P.s - please don't mess up King Of Queens Season 8, when you show it next year.

DZA- You're entitled to your opinion, but I think a lot of Everybody Loves Raymond fans would disagree that there was no point in showing the final series just because there were problems with two episodes. And the rights problems would be just as much an issue if another channel were broadcasting it.

No offense but you relegated Seasons 3 and 4 into 11 5pm timeslots on Ch4 and didn't give them any promotion, so declining rating cannot be viewers faults if you don't promote the series and have you thought about giving it a better lead in series, like Lost or Desperate Housewives? That might actually work because not airing the fifth and final season to a show as brilliant as SFU is unfair.

Dark/Light- Sorry, but you really do have it the wrong way round. Programmes are moved to later slots after their ratings fall. When we launched Six Feet Under it was regularly watched by over 20% of the available audience. By the finale of the second series this figure had fallen to just over 6%.
Grandslam- You spend a fair bit of time on this forum, so I'm not surprised you'd heard of More4.
I couldn't possibly speculate on whether we'd bid for the rights to a show that hasn't ever been commissioned yet. I had no idea what show you might be talking about at first, but I think there's a fair chance that "Robter Baroone" could be Robert Barone, in which case this would be an Everybody Loves Raymond spinoff, yes?

C4, was the lack of S3 of Nip/Tuck also down to ratings or rights?

I really doubt that's the main reason, seeing as channel 4 screwed around with the 2nd season so much

Indeed; after promoting this excellent series so heavily to begin with, why did Ch4 take to showing it initially in double bills, eventually pushing back showing it until 1am? I stuck with it for as long as possible, but some of us have work in the morning! As for SFU, I'm certainly disappointed, and confused to find that the ratings are too low to show it on a channel I can see, but evidentally high enough for the program to be used to promote E4 on Ch4. The tagline "Only we has got Six Chuffing Feet" seems designed to rub my face in it, living in an area without access to digital. Even a late night showing wouldn't go amiss- after all, it's hard to believe that the 12.50am repeat of Desperate Housewives is topping the ratings.

Nip/Tuck- It was our decision not to acquire the third series. After a fairly strong start, the audience numbers fell off sharply. Please note (cf SFU above) this was during the first series- resulting in the subsequent move to a later slot (ie the ratings fell, then it was moved, not the other way round).
Grandslam- Thanks for the tip, but it's extremely unlikely that you'll have read anything about any US shows that our acquisitions department aren't aware of. And as a regular on forums such as Digital Spy you obviously are more clued up about the TV business than the average casual viewer, hence your awareness of More4.
Only six episodes of Bromwell High have been scheduled to date.

ch4 why did you drop Family Guy? You had a great show there and you let the BBC have it?

Earlier you said that More4 will be on channel 13 on Freeview. I live in Wales, and this channel is currently dedicated to S4C-2, which seems to show coverage of the Welsh assembly during some daytime slots. Can you confirm that we will still get More4 in Wales please, and will it still be on channel 13?
Thanks!

I have a question or two: Why isn't Amanda Lamb presenting the new Housetrapped series? And why does a Place in the Sun only have about 6 shows per series and only for half an hour at time? (or, why isn't Amanda on tv more?) Thanks Seb

Since asking this question, I looked on the digital spy site, and it says there that More4 will be on channel 35 in Wales.
Confirmation please C4?

More4- My information is that it will be on Freeview channel 35 in Wales.
A Place In The Sun- Amanda's participation is dependent upon negotiations between herself, us, and the programme's producers. We currently plan to show at least 30 brand new episodes in the early part of next year.

I saw an ad saying that Channel 4 were going to have an Adult Entertainment Channel. What does this mean? Gratuitous sex, violence and lots of profanity? Or intelligent dramas and discussion programmes? If the latter, why is the channel said to be targeting the 24-45 years old market, not those younger or older who would appreciate such fare?
