But will films be still shown in their original ratio when FilmFour goes to Freeview? (eg. Pitch Black on FilmFour was shown in its original 2.35:1 but whenever it's shown on C4 it's cropped to 16:9 - despite the fact that viewers are well-used to black bars now thanks to DVDs, and even Sky One show such films properly on their mainstream channel)

SNIP
.

One of the many thing that annoys me about UK broadcasting, although, to be fair, all DTT broadcasters do this.

Yet again, mainland European broadcasters are far superior in this regard, respecting the director’s views, and showing material in correct aspect.

So, in the UK we have to suffer:-

Censorship,
Cropped films

And a quick snip here myself, I just spotted a classic example of how bloody stupid and thick Channel 4 are.

Tonight's 10pm film is "Heartbreakers", shot in 2.35:1 and the trailer is presented as such. How will the actual film be shown? Yes, cropped to 16:9.

It's like 20 years ago when the ZX Spectrum games used to come with Commodore 64 screenshots on the back cover(!)

Any Channel 4 Without a Trace news?
Any Third Watch news?
Will you EVER(?!?!?!) show a fresh episode of The Simpsons?

FilmFour- We've not had any confirmation of details such as aspect ratio when the channel goes free to air. There's no indication that it will be replacing More4+1.

The Simpsons- No series nine repeats planned. Series 13 (never seen on Channel 4 to date) is due this summer.

Merlin's Apprentice- No repeat planned at the momet.

Ghost Whisperer- This is due to start in the summer on E4.

Without A Trace- Series four starts on More4 on 27th April, with Channel 4 screenings planned for the summer.

Third Watch- No news, I'm afraid.

Happy Easter.

Thanks, but that wasn't actually the Simpsons question I asked. It was:

Will C4 ever show the Simpsons episode "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" (season 9, ep.1)? It was never shown on BBC2 (or C4 when the rights were picked up) after 9/11, but if the US broadcasters can go back to showing it then why can't UK broadcasters? It's one of my favourite episodes.

Why wasn't it shown the last time (or any time) C4 showed season 9?

I meant how come king of the hill is shown early in the morning. Doesn't seem like a good time slot.

The Simpsons series 9- I've been looking into this, and actually we've yet to show this series. It's due to be cleared for Channel 4 broadcast next year. At this point it's not possible to say when or whether specific episodes will be shown or not.

Lost- We can now officially confirm that Lost returns to Channel 4 for a second series on Tuesday 2nd May at 10pm with a double bill. From then, the same pattern as last year applies; new episodes debut on E4 at 11pm after the Channel 4 show.

where would they fit it in

6pm OC
7pm Smallville
8pm ER
9pm Invasion
10pm Desperate Housewive

which mean Lost will put at 11pm which is too late or they could move invasion to 10pm slot lost at 9pm

At the moment only the first two episodes are scheduled for a Channel 4 Sunday repeat. All the E4 episodes are repeated on Second Chance Sunday.

They probably won't have it on e4, but on c4 they will hopefully have a slot in the evening like season 1. I'm hoping that it'll replace Time Team at 5.50 because it's finished and c4 are showing random things (to pass the time, maybe?) for two weeks.

That would be "Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming", which is episode nine of series seven (which starts in the 6pm slot on 3rd May).

Schedules are available week by week in listings magazines and by clicking the Listings link at the top left of Channel 4 web pages. It's best to regularly check published listings to find out when things are to be shown.

If I'm allowed to post this... radiotimes is very good for TV listings as it has a search facility and its write-ups are usually kept quite episode accurate Smile

Ch4, I have come here to ask you if you can pass on a comment for me please.

Please tell the programme makers of The Paul O'Grady Show that I (and I suspect a good few others) find the audience to be too loud and too noisy, intrusively so, on all occasions.

I believe that there is no need to have such screaming and whooping going on; a good cheer, yes, but not the stuff we have nowadays.

I am fed up with it now, and have almost worn out my remote control mute button.

I like Paul, his guests, the animals, the challenges, the kids, everyone in it - on stage that is. It is the audience, when they start up that grips my gut.

I wish they would just enjoy the show, like we do at home, without the noise pollution please.

I watch channel 4, am I mad? I hope so! :-)

This is edited so that it complies with Ofcom guidelines, which apply to late night programmes as well as pre-watershed shows.

I Wish OFCOM would prevent you from showing these type of shows..
