Hi What do people think of this cold turkey program. Me personally think its good to show people what heroin addiction does I was a heroin addict for 8 years till 18 months ago I am on a methadone program now but in 2002 I went into Detox 5 the place where the guys on the tv are and I seriously dont reccomend it to anyone unless they are on a very tiny amount of heroin/methadone yeah you are totally out of it for 3 days but then its hell I lasted 2 weeks after leaving Detox 5 because I felt alot worse then before I went in but they wont actually tell you ,you are setting yourself up to fail if you are on a large amount of h all they want is your money. I think channel 4 should of done a program of cold turkey the way most addicts go through cos come on not many addicts have thousands of pounds for places like Detox 5 and believe me if people saw the normal withdrawal most addicts went through I dont think anyone would get involved using heroin, biggest mistake of my life I've lost so much cos of it. If anyones interested in what being on heroin is like feel free to ask. Take Care From Sarah

I was amazed last night after the watershed when Krishnan warned us about 'what's-coming-up'. All we saw was an addict putting a needle into her leg. Hardly X-rated stuff! This is not a subject to pussyfoot around with. The programme is far too sterile for my liking! It needs to be shown warts and all.
Poor old Krishnan though: out of the 'confrontational' environment of the newsroom from interviewing politicians and other nasty pieces of work, straight into the 'caring' environment of a clinic -- it must be difficult. The inane questions to the parents, and nervous awareness of keeping to the time. Makes me feel twitchy, and I'm not even an addict!

Agree - quite brave of the addicts, whatever way you look at it - neither they or there familes, or the voluntery sector (charities) or local authorites etc comes out looking 'that good'
Its probably very hard to keep a position of whom is good/bad that close up.
