Not such a silly question, when you consider that a poster on these forums not too long ago genuinely expressed surprise that Leather was made from cowskin.
Long gone are the days of the local butchers shop where you could see where your meat came from. Today meat comes prepackaged in cellaphane, or in the frozen cabinet of your local supermarket. It makes it difficult to realise that meat comes from a "murdered" animal.
