Gridlock
I have to confess to hating the opning sequence and finding the pace a bit sluggish to begin with. That being said, other thoughts are positive ...
The Doctor - Finally we dealt with his distant attitude with Martha and as much as I can sympathise with her, I don't blame The Doctor for maintaining some emotional distance with her. The Doctor shouting a lot was patchy at times but I loved the team up of him, FOB and Novice Haim. However does he really think he's the last of his kind?
Martha - This might be the best episode for Freema's acting as Martha not only got abducted by the world's most friendly kidnappers but also was forced to question why she is travelling with a man who hardly notices her and doesn't seem willing to talk about himself a lot. I have to admire her for focing The Doctor to open up in the end as well.
Cheen/Milo - Love the casting of Lenora Crichlow and Travis Oliver both of them were excellent and they especially excelled during that haunting hymn. That showed really skilled acting from both. If we get to come to five billion next season, can we have them again?
Brannigan/Valerie - Dooougal! Come on, I doubt I was the only who instantly thought that when we first saw. Plus the kittens were cute and The Doctor got his jacket from Janis Joplin? Neat!
Alice/May - A nice, resourceful, older married lesbian couple who were interesting. Why the hell couldn't Torchwood do this as well as Doctor Who?
The Macra - Last seen in the Patrick Troughton era of the series, we got a brilliant upfdate on them hear but I felt their "defeat" was a bit too quick.
The Face Of Boe/Novice Haim - I saw that coming a mile off but I was still glad to see the both of them and thanks to TFOB's message, The Doctor can get more hints of not being alone.
A good episode but the first two were better so an 8/10.
