Just when she got in the Tardis she said something like 'It's bigger on the inside' and he mouthed that, or whatever it was that was similar to that that she said.

Ah, thanks.

I would imagine he has heard that once or twice before!!

.

We saw Rose say it, and Catherine Tate.

I think every one who has entered the Tardis has said it. Having the Doctor mouth it at the same time as Martha was an interesting switch. For the first time we were focussing on the Doctor`s reaction to the words, rather than the new companion.

The Shakespeare Code

Well this was certainly interesting. In fact I found this better than both Tooth And Claw and The Girl In The Fireplace and nearly as good as The Unquiet Dead. History episodes continue to work on this series.

William Shakespeare - Good casting choice with Dean Lennox Kelly who looked surprisingly hot as well might I add. We got a reference to his family life and his flirting with both The Doctor and Martha was intruiging to watch. Being under control by the Carronites was interesting but he didn' half come with some uninteresting words to stop them. I could buy figuring out that The Doctor and Martha weren't from around there easier than him being immune to psychic paper.

Lilith/DoFinger/Bloodtide - Hubble, bubble toil and trouble, fire burn and cauldron bubble. Damn, that Christina Cole Hex girl can act when given the right role to sink her teeth. She was stunning but how the other two couldn't glamour themselves like her? The flirting with The Doctor was fun before she killed him and her antics to get Shakespeare to do what they wanted was interesting but at the end their defeat was a little simplistic. Plus Lilith was flirting with The Doctor before trying to kill him.

The Doctor - David Tennant has truly made this role his own and is rapidly getting more and more engaging and this week really showcased that. Harry Potter references aside, the realtionship between him and Martha is certainly a bit impressive and shaky as Rose is still fresh on his mind and I loved how he was able to deal with the Carronites in his own way. The Queen Elizabeth confused me, but we might an explanation on that some day.

Martha - This episode for her wasn't as impressive but she's getting a lot of good one-liners, viewers can sympathise with the way The Doctor rebuffs her attempts of getting close and her banter with Shakespeare is a joy to watch. Her thing with The Doctor though could be construed as similar to Rose, seeing as she insticntively took off with him and already she has to acknowledge that she doesn't know that much about him.

Other things I liked ....

- Lindley drowning on dry land
- The toilet thing, seeing as it wasn't only Ancient Rome that had this problem
- Butterfly effect/Back To The Future references
- Queen Elizabeth looking like a drag queen
- Next week's preview giving us Ardal O'Hanlon, Lenora Crichlow and The Face of Boe
- Martha's bed joke/figuring out the 14 sides/lines
- Both The Doctor/Martha's disgust at the way patients were treated in Bedlam

Rating: 9/10

I should imagine ANY modern day person would be full of disgust at the way the patients were treated in Bedlam.

I was a bit surprised at Martha`s lack of knowledge as to what "Bedlam" was. But then I suppose a lot of youngsters nowadays wouldn`t have a clue either.

good episode i think Shakespeare out did the Drs acting a little but it was still really good. i like the way that the Dr is still hung up on Rose a little - "Rose would know what to say..." and martha's reaction to it - sour or what!

in this series is there going to be a thing like Badwolf or Torchwood? i noticed in the 1st ep there was a poster for 'vote saxon' but i didnt notice anything in this ep.

Yes.

The Lazerus Experiment is the first ep where the link is either introduced or brought to our attention. Whether we`ll recognise it as the link is another matter. The Lazerus Eperiment is ep 6.

Gridlock

I have to confess to hating the opning sequence and finding the pace a bit sluggish to begin with. That being said, other thoughts are positive ...

The Doctor - Finally we dealt with his distant attitude with Martha and as much as I can sympathise with her, I don't blame The Doctor for maintaining some emotional distance with her. The Doctor shouting a lot was patchy at times but I loved the team up of him, FOB and Novice Haim. However does he really think he's the last of his kind?

Martha - This might be the best episode for Freema's acting as Martha not only got abducted by the world's most friendly kidnappers but also was forced to question why she is travelling with a man who hardly notices her and doesn't seem willing to talk about himself a lot. I have to admire her for focing The Doctor to open up in the end as well.

Cheen/Milo - Love the casting of Lenora Crichlow and Travis Oliver both of them were excellent and they especially excelled during that haunting hymn. That showed really skilled acting from both. If we get to come to five billion next season, can we have them again?

Brannigan/Valerie - Dooougal! Come on, I doubt I was the only who instantly thought that when we first saw. Plus the kittens were cute and The Doctor got his jacket from Janis Joplin? Neat!

Alice/May - A nice, resourceful, older married lesbian couple who were interesting. Why the hell couldn't Torchwood do this as well as Doctor Who?

The Macra - Last seen in the Patrick Troughton era of the series, we got a brilliant upfdate on them hear but I felt their "defeat" was a bit too quick.

The Face Of Boe/Novice Haim - I saw that coming a mile off but I was still glad to see the both of them and thanks to TFOB's message, The Doctor can get more hints of not being alone.

A good episode but the first two were better so an 8/10.

Martha: “Are they selling drugs?”
The Doctor: “No they’re selling moods”.

Brannigan: “Feels like yesterday”
Valerie: “Feels like twelve years”.

Cheen (re Macras): “Something huge and hungry and if you get lost on the road, it’s waiting for you”.

Cheen (re The Doctor): “He looked kind of nice”
Martha: “He’s more than that”.

Martha (to Cheen/Milo): “You’ve got your faith, your songs and you hymns and I’ve got The Doctor”.
