Daleks In Manhattan

My God this was bizzare and a bit too Frankestein like but it also continues a flurry of seriously strong episodes in the third season.

The Cult Of Skaro - Well their return was sweet and it did make sense the Dalek Sec wouldn't be the only one to escape getting sucked into the Void last season. Having Daleks argue over the process of their evolution was an interesting stroke but I can't help wondering their ideas of advancing themselves make them more vulnerable as well.

Mr Diagoras - What a nasty brute. I laughed at the corrupt moron getting his own comeuppance for the deaths he has been responsible but RT spoiler aside, that Human/Dalek hybrid wasn't half-disgusting. Laszlo/Tallulah - I liked these guys and this is the first time I've ever seen Ryan Carnes give an emotional performance that really sold me. I'm glad Laszlo didn't become totally addled like the rest of the Pig Men. Miranda Raison had a dodgy accent but Tallulah is amusing and she had greatr exchanges between The Doctor and Martha so I'm willing to let that slide.

Frank/Soloman - These were two other characters I loved a lot this week. Soloman seems like a sympathetic but slightly reluctant leader and Frank seemed like a fairly nice guy. I'm pretty glad he survived and hopefully will still be alive by the end of next episode.

The Doctor - I loved Ten more this week than last week. His bitterness at the Daleks survival and way of infiltrating them was a nice stroke and the rapport he has with everyone just gets better and better to watch. How he didn't get spotted by the Daleks amused me as well.

Did you know Bala, that the Daleks originated from the Planet Skaro? And that the Dalek race was originally humanoid to start with? Davros gentically modified them, to make them what we know and love today.

Personally, I can`t see how modifying the Daleks into a dalek/human hybrid could be classed as a step forward on their evolution, as somewhere in their original modification there had to be human/Dalek hybrids.

I also cannot see how this new developement can continue. Daleks are giant pepperpots, they are iconic, just the sight of them drove millions of kids to hide behind the sofas. How is anyone going to be scared just looking at this new version, especially as he looks like a draft version of Davy Jones from Pirates of the Carribean.

Either the other three Daleks are going to turn on this hybrid (or Ten will kill it), or else Sec is going to rebel, and name "his" new species something else.

I liked Squiddly Diddly (used to be on before school, along with Secret Squirrel )

Anyway.........decent enough episode, I'm just not as into it this season as I was for the first 1 and a half series

I`m glad someone understood my Squiddly Diddly reference!!

I liked the episode, don`t get me wrong, I just didn`t like the squidheaded dalek/human hybrid.

But I sppose waht really made me go at the episode, was the idea of a pregnant Dalek. But I loved the idea of the pregnancy causing hormonal problems making steam come out of the dalek`s ears!



The visual it brings to my brain of a whole planet of Daleks suddenly smoking, then popping their front doors open to thow out a hybrid is just too to think about.

I saw that. They did quite a good mock up of Kylie in the Torchwood Cyberwoman outfit!

It`s well known that Kylie likes Doctor Who, she even had her dancers in cybermen outfits on her recent gigs in London and Manchester.
