What FACTS have you got to justify this statement?

This politically slanted publication is one that other may not agree with. And if you are using to justify immigration into the UK are you seriously suggesting that the UK is primarily responsible for the present grain shortages worldwide? Perhaps you are conveniently forgetting the vastly increased consumption of both grains and fuel in the BRIC countries, especially India and China. Or the rapidly increasing world population, especially outside the West. Or going back in time, the 'green revolution' that vastly increased world food production.

I'd be interested to see some real facts. How did we "drain" Poland "over the decades"? Or countries like those in Africa whose economies have been wrecked by local dictators, despite billions in aid.

u think the actions of these dictators happened in a vaccumn?
the west benefits from them and keeps them in power, turning a blind eye til they become trouble.
the burma junta would not exist without that kind of complicity.

That's just a cop-out. Another unsustainable sweeping generalisation.

@AnthonyD

So what!
A couple of index pages about Poland – saying what? I couldn’t find anything where we had “west has drained [Poland] of resources and potential financal (sic) benefits over the decades” as you claimed.

You referred to Burma. A pretty poor example:

junta backtracks on allowing aid flights

And from a few minutes ago
Myanmar seizes UN aid supplies

The problem is that the victim culture that seems to prevail, likes to blame anyone else for the appalling recent economic failures in many countries as many corrupt politicians seek to line their pockets. I travel widely, worldwide, and have frequently seen it at first hand, many times. Much of it only started in the last 50 years after autonomy was reached.

The point I was trying to make is that it is easy to trot out the old tired clichés, but a little more difficult to make them stick.

I still blame this Goverment for making it so easy to come to this Country and claim all the benefits going...even if not in cash, in vouchers, which I used to see being openly sold outside my local Tescos ( not sure if the voucher system is still going...things change!). I have nothing against others wanting a better life, but it is so good over here now that if I hear an English accent whilst walking down the Street I want to hug the person like a long lost Friend...Comrade! And I am serious!! THEN! After Britain opening its arms and making most of the Worls Atlas welcome...they complain!!! Eek you could not make it up honestly!! Disappointed Wave

read a report in observer that suggest a major influx of african migrants, legal and illegal, will be heading to EU soon as consequence of overfishing and depleted fishing stocks-all to put fish on our tables-leading to serious unemployment.

I read that report too - though not in the Guardia. The one I read said

"The region’s governments bear much of the blame for their fisheries’ decline. Many have allowed a desire for money from foreign fleets to override concern about the long-term health of their fisheries. Illegal fishermen are notoriously common; efforts to control fishing, rare...... European Union officials insist that their bloc, which has negotiated fishing deals with Africa since 1979, is a scapegoat for Africa’s management failures and the misdeeds of other foreign fleets. They argue that African officials oversell fishing rights, inflate potential catches and allow pirate vessels and local boats free rein in breeding grounds."

We need an ID system like the french, france is much bigger then Britain and they have a lower population then us! Why do the government make it so easy for illegal immigrants to get into the country?
