C4, known for its great docs is going through a bad patch I'm afraid.
This 'what happened next' drivel of a series is probably a collection of some of the worst programmes being sold under the pretence of being 'documentary'. Nothing could be further from the truth. The maker of these programmes needs to watch a few documentaries in order to learn what the term 'documentary' actually means. It certainly doesn't mean droning on in an extremely boring monotone about what the viewer can see viz 'I decided to drive down to see for myself', 'I waited outside the house', 'I looked out of the window', 'I decided to scratch my nose', 'I decided to look more boring than my voice sounded'. Jesus Christ where do these 'programme makers' come from these days ?
Come on C4, TV is going through an appalling period of film making and we look to you for the sense of excitement and innovation that you had twenty years ago. We deserve better than we're getting. We deserve better than these twentysomething prats pretending to be film makers, making programmes for twentysomething execs who have no f ucking idea what they're doing.
Sadly the over-indulged kids I and my generation brought into the world are turning out to be some of the worst programme makers the world has seen. That, combined with a bunch of rating-watching pillocks who are in charge, completes the recipe for the tripe televsion we're seeing now.
