all i have to say about this programme is these parents (and i use that word very loosely) should have been shot at birth the 2 so called adults featured in the programme on monday night amanda and paul, really are the epitomy of what this country is coming to their poor children are put on this earth to serve their needs and when the children have even tried to commit suicide they still carry on breeding these two people are thoughtless selfish excuses for human beings i for one would take all their children from them and find them loving homes to live in as they will never experience childhood under any other circumstances these two adults make compulsory steralisation and castration a really good idea6

I have to agree, that was a shocking program, those poor kids were not looked after properly

a more shocking programme i have not seen for a while, what are social services doing .its not right in this day and age that children should be treated in such a way.the children stated they "loved there carers" they no different and when a child tries to commit suicide all the alarm bells should be ringing!!!!..

i thought i was looking at film from a rumanian orphanage at points of the programme

I cannot agree with you more loftylion, I cried whilst watching that programme, god those poor tragic kids. These two wastes of space obviously sit about smoking fags and drinking beer all day whilst their poor boys sit round in their own filth until their two daughters get home from school to deal with it all. The father obviously has enough of an awareness of his surroundings to light himself a fag and to poor himself a beer and to walk to school with his daughter but yet he is incapable of cleaning his own son's bottoms. To quote the mother's words, "we ask the girls to help so it gives us a break" A BREAK FROM WHAT, SITTING ON YOUR ARSE ALL DAY!! Fair enough, I've seen blind parents who are a shining example and maybe have 1 or 2 children and prove that they can be excellent parents, thats what you have children for, to nurture them, not for them to look after you, but those 2 really took the biscuit. If ever there was a case for social services going in there and getting those children out then this is it. It breaks my heart that loving caring people out there are unable to have children whilst thick breeding machines like those two will keep on breeding because they know that their life will never get any harder, they'll be looked after by the state and their poor daughters and eventually sons when they are old enough. I hope that when those children grow up that they have the common sense to leave their poor excuse for parents and eventually salvage some sort of civilised lives for themselves. Never has a programme incensed me so much, and sorry for the rant but unfortunately it has hit a raw nerve.

I am glad that my wife and I are not the only ones with the view of loftylion. The words he/she uses are almost a word for word match with what we were saying while watching. My wife and i are still trying for our first baby and as I am working long hours to make ends meet, I can't understand how the gov't allow people like these selfish idiots to pop out kids which our taxes pay to keep while we still struggle to have a single baby . we know we can't afford to have any more than one so it seems unfair that these idiots don't understand this and act acordingly.
we'd love to take in those little ones and show them that there are people out there who don't think a child is their right, but a gift to be treasured and cared for, NOT TO DO THE CARING

I wish you the best of luck jojo with your first child, My hubby and I have only got one child and we felt it was the right thing to do as she has two illnesses and bringing her up has been stressful so we did not feel it would have been fair to have another. Plus there was also the matter of money. I am having a hysterectomy in the next few months due so my chance of having another child will have gone but I feel happy that I have brought up my only child and given her everything that I could have done. It gets my back up that people like those two can breed for England because they know that the taxpayer will cough up, but decent working people cannot afford to do that because we know that we would not qualify for any help from the Government if we were to give up our jobs to look after our children full time. Sometimes I feel that I would have been better never working from day one and sitting on my bum instead like those two, who knows, maybe I would have had the 3 children by now that I always wanted but life doesn't work that way does it!!

The woman with fibromyalgia also got to me a little too, although not as much as the other two, I suffer with a back injury and serious gynaecological problems and I am also in constant pain but I still manage to get up every day (sometimes in agony with my back) and deal with a child with ADHD and epilepsy, and I work 2 days a week. I agree that this woman could probably have done more, you can actually iron sitting down, that would not have hurt her to do a bit. She was remorseful though and she genuinely did have some feelings of guilt which is more than the two other morons had I suppose.

Huge hugs. You're a special person to ensure that you only have children that you know you can take care of...and that child will grow up knowing it. Huge huge hugs..can't be easy having a hysterectomy.

Fair play to you! You could also lie back and moan, especially with a child having ADHD (not easy, and I only work part of the day with a child with ADHD - you do it full time, with pure love)...but you don't, you get on with it.. Why on earth doesn't that woman only buy non-iron stuff...to give her son a break. She could do needlepoint work..but not cook? What?? She can't do much at all?

Sorry..and not meaning to be rude or funny...but did the 'wife and mother' (blind one) seem to have more problems than just being blind and useless? She seemed to have some sort of other disability ??? Handicap??

I still can't believe what i have just witnessed and have felt the need to complain to channel 4 about the programme. This has to be child neglect and abuse. Does anyone know what we can do?? I was in tears watching the little one on the dirty floor face down trying to sleep in a dirty babygrow. It broke my heart! I hope channel 4 follow this up with the authorities for the sake of the children please someone help.

Right folks I'm going to bed now, I've calmed down I've got my ranting out of my system. I'm going upstairs to kiss my beautiful daughter (without waking her up hopefully, or she'll be up for the next hour) and consider myself lucky to have her. She is hard work sometimes but when I see programmes like the one I've seen tonight it makes me thankful that I have a nice little house, a beautiful daughter, a gorgeous big fat cuddly hubby, a crazy hyperactive dog, two gay rabbits, a job I hate and hardly any money, but HEY ITS ABOUT AS NORMAL AS LIFE GETS!! and I consider myself lucky to have such a normal boring old life. I have to agree with you all this is a disgrace i am appauled at what I saw tonight and they seem to be so proud of their acheivements 6 poverty stricken kids living in squaller while their so called parents sit about smoking and drinking so what they are blind do they think this is a reasonable excuse for child abuse? shame on the council they live under they should be bowing their heads in shame. I have one word of wisdom for that family BIRTHCONTROL!

Just the stepping over the filth encrusted baby on the floor was the defining moment for me...."Yeah, we'll move him later!".

How about WASHING, LOVING and COMMUNICATING with their kids?? I saw none of that.

The kids just lying around like discarded toys and absolutely ZILCH stimulation or attention from either MUM or DAD!!
