The short answer is, we have no idea how Jack ended up there... How did Bernard end up in a tree? There are many theories, the crash was staged and never actually happened, everyone was knocked out and then revived on the beach, fooled into thinking they crashed... I tend to steer away from the conspiracy angles, we saw the crash at the beginning of The Other 48 Days and that was from the islands perspective, it wasn't a flahback or a memory that could be subjective... But does the scene on the beach in Pilot and TO48D take place immediately after the crash? That's open for debate too... So, yeah, short answer, we have no idea...

Vincent was with him when he woke up. How did he get out of his cage?

it probably broke on impact...i'd of thought they'd have safety mechanisms for letting thins out of cages when they could die if they stay inside, but i dunno.

The fact that Jack wasnt impaled on any of the sticks of the bamboo stuff that was around him is also a mystery.

I absolutely agree with you there, that's always bothered me too! Also find it a bit odd that a) so many people survived the "crash" in the first place and b) they had relatively minor injuries, if anything at all. The lack of blood in the opening scenes was a bit suspicious too - I don't care if JJ Abrahms has said that it was all done for "dramatic effect".
Mind you, I read about that real plane crash in the Andes (made into a film, about the survivors turning to cannibalism), and apparently a surprising number of people walked from the wreckage with little/no injuries. So nothing's impossible, I suppose.

Why was Jack in the jungle? Well in the videos of the Lost Experience it says about going in and stickign to your story or something along those lines. Jack could be a spy from the Hanso Foundation and may be an 'Other' and thus was already on the island? Although that would make his flashbacks nun and void, hwoever there is no set time and date for when his flashbacks are set really is there?

Although we see him in other peoples flashbacks at the airport.

I'm still puzzled as to how Hurley managed to step on Libby's foot when she was in the back of the plane. Was she in on it too? WD is the best Film EVER! Charlie - gotta like that fella

I thought that too, Funky_Munky!
She was lying!!!

Libby was lying. She was testing Hurley to see if he remembered her.

He had a big wound, that he got Kate to stitch up. Maybe he staggered out of the beach wreckage and passed out in the jungle. But there was a shoe or something dangling from the nearby bamboo, so maybe bits of the plane broke apart as the fuselage crashed through the trees, absorbing the impact like the crumple zones in cars. A TV program last week "The Survivor's Guide To Plane Crashes" said that 90% of plane crashes have survivors - which mean nearly all plane crashes have survivors.

I assumed she lied to him saying he stood on her foot on the plane to trick his mind into only thinking about being on the plane while he was trying to remember where he had seen her before and less likely to remember where he really knows her from

you could see it in her face that she was lying and even hurley was having a little trouble remembering!

I think it's just chance that Jack landed there tbh. And on the point of there being so many survivors, surely that's part of the 'magic' of the island. Sayid brings it up in the first series "Do you no think it's odd that our plane happended to crash on a remote island and so many of us walked away from that without a scratch?" Or words to that effect at least.

The crash did happen, you see it several times in all 3 series. The plane broke up in mid-air, is it inconcievable that some people fell out?

The same 'Survivors Guide To Plane Crashes', the crash experts said it's also pretty common for people to emerge with nothing worse than cuts, scratches and bruises. Amazing, and hard to believe, but apparently true!
