Right, the orienation video said they would be down there for 540 days, and if my brain is a brain, 3 years is more than 540 days, what's goin on?

The last people DHARMA sent to The Swan were Kelvin & Radzinsky, judging by the scale and the number of entries on the map they had been there an awful lot longer than 540 days too.

Replacements stopped coming a looooong time ago IMO.

And Desmond isn't DHARMA, he was never supposed to be in The Swan to begin with.

The film said replacements, yet both Kelvin and Desmond asked...

quote:
Are you Him?

Him, not them, even when Desmond was faced with two potential replacements (not that Des is DHARMA and would even get replaced) in Locke & Kate he asked...

quote:
Are you him?

...and I think the reason is "he" is the only person who's supposed to be coming to The Swan.

And there's a code to verify it is "him" when, and if, he turns up...

What did one snowman say to the other snowman?

ok, the map could have been done in 6 months and so gives no suggestion that kelvin was there any longer than 540 days.

Just another manic Monday

The complexity of the map suggests otherwise though, they had to do it within a 108 minute timeframe and I think that fact alone suggests it would take a lot longer than 6 months.

no, how many 108s are there in a day? then times up by 6 months - easily possible.

Even if it were possible (and if you did nothing else it might be) the dates on the map suggest it has been under construction for a lot longer than 6 months.

Plus they'd only add to it when they found out something new, and a lone occupant of the Swan couldn't explore further than 108/2=54 minutes away.

Personally, I think the blast door map is cobblers.
Why do it 'invisibly', who are they hiding it from?
Why do it on the blast door?
How do they add the writing without going over previous entries?
What do they need it for?

Inman had clearly been stuck inside the Swan for longer than he'd expected; I think the blast door map is just an expression of cabin fever! Doesn't mean it isn't representative, of course. But just because it's representative, that doesn't mean it isn't futile or insane!

there was no lone occupant there was radzinski and inman then desmond. all the things on the map are within 54 mins away and could still be done in 6 months. just go 5 times a day, round 360 degrees of the hatch. even if you did this 1 degree at a time this would only take 72 days! dilema finally solved by logic - even if they visited each degree TWICE, 6 months is ample time.

Inman was on his own after Radzinsky died (allegedly).
The Swan was well within 108 minutes round-trip distance of the Losties camp (Kate fetching Sawyer to fix the computer in 'Orientation')*
Henry Gale's balloon was at least a day's hike away from the Losties beach camp.
The Tail section crashed a couple of days march away from the Losties beach camp.
The 'line' (not to cross) was well over 108 minutes round trip distance.
The Pearl hatch (in '?') was well over 108 minutes round trip distance away.
The Black Rock (in 'Exodus') was well over 108 minutes round trip distance.

You've got a lot of work to do to explain how someone could gather the information on the blast door map without embarking on a lot of extended trips kitted out like Inman in his Hazmat suit!

Still, if Inman could find the time and resources to repair 'Elizabeth' (single-handed!), I suppose anything's possible to such a Superman! Big Grin

Christ knows where Locke and Boone thought they were when they found the Swan. They seemed to have been tracking Ethan all day, but turns out they'd only covered a couple of miles.

That's some thick jungle! Eek

(Or Locke's just a dumbass) Mad

All the time there are two people in the hatch one of them can go off for longer than 108 minutes as the other person will stay behind to press the button.

Good point re why do they need to do the map invisibly HH
