I have a little theory that the whole "We are Lost on an island" thing is related to a govermnental organization or sumthing thats run by very rich and powerful people. We all know that all the Losties have done something bad, and I think they were all hand-picked. Here are little things to think about:

Sayid= Was blackmailed to get the terrorists by the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.
Kate= Went to see her dad who was in the army who fought for the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.
Jack= His Dad got in trouble with the whole operation and he got in trouble in court which is run by the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.
Ana Lucia= She's a policewoman, for the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.
Charlie= He's probably connected to rich and powerful people, being a rock star and all.
Jin and Sun= Sun's Dad is very rich and powerfull and told Jin to "teach a lesson" to a guy who worked for the KOREAN GOVERNMENT
Locke= His *Dad* (matter of debate here) is rich and powerful.
Boone and Shannon= They both have businessly powerful relations, a florist company and whatever Shannons dad did. But who cares bout them theyre dead!
Mike and Walt= Mike had custody trouble with his kid, in court, run by the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT
Hurley= He won the lottery, got rich and powerful.
Sawyer= He really messed with/conned rich and powerful ppl plus got in trouble with the AUSTRAILIAN GOVERNMENT.

I could think of more if I wanted to. But I think this is really putting the pieces together now. You Decide!

Funny Ive just bumped my GUT and now I get to refer to it again!

I think there is some sort of influncing factor that has brought them to the island, maybe not governmental, more of a secret society. HOWEVER this secret society could have inflitrated governmental organisations, making it easier for them to access these people.

Hmm interesting thought ESN. Everyone should read his GUT theory its really good. But I think that it's all an experiment which is joint governmentally (Austrailia and US) funded via third party companies and sponsors in Korea (HANSO, Dharma and Jin's dad in law). Everything happens to see how they react, and children are excluded (hence Walt and the rest of the kids getting Kidnapped) because it's fairer that way. I think Desmond and DAnielle/rouseau are both working for this project and they're good actors. But they can't handle it 24/7 so you dont see them very long.

Actors are interesting but are they that good a actors? I dont agree with you about the kids - why wouldnt they want to see how they react?
Also with the amount of governments involved etc - thats an heck of an lot of red tape involved and a lot of very different companies with different interests - why would a car company fund a human response project for instance?

They exclude the children so the children dont get involved. When you think about it sticking a kid on the lost island is sort of rude. So i thinkthe others kidnapped Walt so they could make him a nice cup of tea and forget about the whole palarva.
As for "why would a car company want to know about human sociology?", well I haven't thought it through. Use your imagination. Maybe it's proffitable and the car company is the sponsor for the project, and sun's old man wants in on the proffit. I'm not sure about my own theory, but hey it makes sense. and Desmond and Rouseau are like, in real life, not that good actors (rouseau's actress is RUBBISH) but in the series they act a bit over the top. I dont know. pepper me with responces!

So if like you say Walts sitting with the others with a nice cuppa why would he appear to be communicating with Micheal or appearing to Shannon? Also why would a major corperation be invovled with murder for an experiement? surely no government or organisation would be that evil. I know they can be pretty imoral at times but surely they wouldnt sink this low? A car company for profit yes but what sort of profit would they want with the results of a sociology experiment? I like the idea of experiment (not one that i woul choose) but maybe by an secret organisation who has hidden operatives in those companys? Would be a little more plausable IMO

No Govt. would kill for experiment huh? Well what about the 30 soldiers that died in Britain during WW2 Nerve Gas testing, by the Army? And what about the (unconfirmed) stories of pilots who have died during experimental aviation tests? Organisations care about profit - capitalism at it's most efficient eliminates all other rivals and I believe there are some who will go to any lengths to get rid of the rivals. Westen Governments are concerned with 1 thing - their reputations, how history will view them - and so theywill go to any lengths to stop the collapse of economies, the starting of wars, etc.

Btw you forget that jins boss is Suns dad - why would he put her in danger like that? he maybe a capitalist but also a father who its been said that shes his treasure. I still cant see how a car company would make a profit out of sponsoring a social experiment? surely that will cost them more money? it wouldnt make sense for them to be involved directly

PS I am aware of a claring example of murder for experiments (direct murder not accidental death) - the experiements performed by the Nazi SS during WWII, but the point still stands that there are no current governments that evil and no matter how much they covered it up, would be too scared to do somthing like that in case it was revealed and the damage it would cause

I think you're right about some big conspiracy somewhere Sawyer Rocks (well, at least I really really hope you are!)

Just a small point - and I'm not weighing in on whether or not Government's would do this that or the other - but I still think it would all be very mean to Walt. Giving me a cup of tea and a pat on the back wouldn't stop me fretting about the bullet they put in Sawyer, and the knowledge that my dad must be going mad and putting himself in who knows what kind of danger to get me back.

And Walt probably escaped from the others and found a comp 2 talk to Micheal on (methinks) but maybe they tried to kidnap him so they could exclude him from the experiment. I can use my imagination thank you (how to you think I came up with my GUT?) but even allowing for the fact that this is Lost we are dealing with here, I still can't see it. Besides lost is based upon real world stuff and there is a logical explanation for everything. You still havent commented on my suggestion of a secert societys involvement has a possablity.

Your G.U.T is probably a billion times better than mine, but that's probably because it's a good 3 pages. I'm not trying to insult you. Your GUT is like the magic/religous/fate approach and mine is the logic/science/real approach. And Jins boss is POSSESIVE of Sun, but he wudnt p!ss on her if she was on fire. It's a korean thang. And profits can be made out of sociology experiments, like film it and sell it to ITV, use it for research, use the new sociological knowlege for manipulation, use your imagination. And the secret society is a VERY BIG possibility. But I prefer to think im right and your wrong :P

Ok first of all will you stop asking me to use my imagaination. Think we are going to have to agree to disagree on this, since I have my views on this and you have yours, still not convinced there is profit to be made by this but there we are. BTW in my GUT thread, I have admitted that the magic stuff is a little far fetched and some of the stuff is real science. Somthing tells me that both you and I are probably waaay off track LOL

There's probably a war with the others and the scientists, i just thinks it's a FAKE war. And we're probably both off track. But hey the guessing bit is fun!
