Well, it's definetely a theme now isnt it..Bad weather/rain equals bad things happening or death.
But what do you think..
Is the rain just for dramactic effect and to create a sense of forboding before something climatic happens. For example the death or Ethan, Shannon. Or a chase by the security system etc. Lets not forget a pummeling[sp] from Ethan on Jack.
Or do you think theres more to it as in is there a specific reason why the weather invariably turns bad when something major is about to happen? For example do the islands controllers control the weather and use it as a signal or warning for certain 'events'? Does the security system work/function better in the rain? Or is it controlled by Walts subconcious mind which acts as a warning to the losties?
Was it raining when Boone died??? I don't think it was but I could be wrong. I do agree about the weather, maybe this is why Walt always looks wet when he shows up. The Boone thing makes me think maybe it wasn't really the island who caused his death???
Well the weather is always rubbish when I am angry
Well I dont think that it is just coincidence, the writers wouldnt do that to us!
I have always thought that the "others" can control the weather, I might be wrong, but the night that Boone and Locke found the hatch, it was pouring with rain, yet it looked like it wasnt raining back at the caves!
Good point, Locke predicted it didn't he?? Then Walt made it rain when he wanted to find Vincent. Maybe it's not the island causing the rain, it could be out losties emotions???
It would make sense that they would be in for more rain as Artz did say, before the raft left, that it was monsoon season coming.

I think the rain and storms are for dramatic effect but as Chelle rightly points out they are coming to monsoon season - although I really like the idea that the weather is a manifestation of the characters emotions.
I think what would be really scary now is if the writers made something bad happen when it isn't raining - that would really catch everyone out!

Didn't the Dharma video show that some of the experiments were on the weather? I do believe the weather is connected to the storyline in someway, that it is being controlled. It could have some advantage I suppose if you want to wrong foot the oppostion. It would be one more matter to contend with.

I am sure that the rain is controlled somehow. It makes it more difficult to fight and run when its raining that hard. I wonder how Locke predicts it tho?

Yeh i dont understand how he would be able to tell. He must be special. Im with boone in saying 'they taught you how to predict the weather in a box company?' !

Good point . I did notice it was always raining when someone died or there was a fight or a chase in the jungle . I assumed it was just for dramatic effect but now it's got me thinking . I like the idea that the island / the island controllers use the weather as a signal of bad things to come , a warning to the losties . Some interesting points .

Yeah, I mean the weather seems to be bad just as something bad is happening, yet when Boone died the weather was okay. Perhaps it was an accident rather than the island taking him. After the other 48 days and we see that Ana turned off the radio at her end, maybe Bopone should have spoke to the tailies and the island could have wanted them to join together sooner???
Oh i get you..hmmm..very possible..maybe his death was an accident?..although i still suspect the island had an intentional hand in it. But thats just my opinion
I'm not sure, and it's been a while since I've seen the episodes concerning Boone's death, but iirc, Boone died in between two episodes (Do No Harm & The Greater Good) which would mean we wouldn't have seen the rain if there was any?
Also, if you check the episode guide on channel4.com/lost it seems to suggest that too...
the thing is, the guy that controlled the equipment was desmond. if that is the case, he cant have anything to do with the weather as he didnt even know there was a plane crash. if thats the case, the others must have something as well that controls dharma and stuff. also, the others must have had a lot of spies for this, but they didnt know that ethan was being framed (ending in jack killing them). i think it could just be for dramatic effect.
