I know I'm going to sound totally bonkers, maybe I am. But I'm not one of those people who sits about thinking up theorys. I was just sat watching tele and it came to me. Please do not tell me if I am totally wrong, totally right or inbetween because this is a non spoiler thread but...
Could 'The Others' be ghosts/spirits of some sorts? A) No one has actually ever seen them
B) There is no way ethan could drag a pregnant woman and a man off all by himself, ok so we THINK there was no one else there... what if there was? We just couldnt see them.
C) All they want is children? Perhaps this is for the body of the child for the spirit to live inside. I mean theres no point in it being an adult as that body will die soon anyway.
D) In the loop, Danielle said the exact words "THE OTHERS are dead, it killed them all"
E) The fire on the beach which means they are coming, there were no tracks.. could this be the work of something that doesnt leave tracks, a ghost/spirit.
And finally, the whole light and dark, black and white, two sided. Beofre life... and after life.

Interesting theory you've got there blackie! I like the thought of it... it would certainly explain a lot, especcially the beach fire because that was really bugging me!!! But on the transmission/loop are you sure she said "The Others" and not the rest, as in the rest of her team??!!

We all just assume that they are human, I was gutted when those boat people appeared then after much thought I decided they werent the others!
I like your idea that they might be ghosts shaddow things, as these have not been explained and it would fit in with the theory that the sickness makes you go mad, cos everyone would think you were mad if you were seeing ghosts and shaddows!
Part of me just feels it would be an anti-climax if the others were just humans! But part of me also feels lost would lose its appeal and become far fetched! I just like to sit on the fence!
Well perhaps they were once humans. Who crashed on the island... and now all they want is their lives back. And they prey on humans who end up on the island. There is also a connection with Hurleys numbers somehow... because the french woman said there was already a stress single repeating those numbers which she wiped over. Could they have been reading the numbers from the side of the metal thing... Perhaps someone was sending out a distress signal from INSIDE it.

I also think there is something to do with the dog... Maybe linked to the others maybe not. But there is deffinatly something about a dog who survives a plane crash with not a single mark.

Vincent (the dog) was Brians (Walts step-dad) who I believe may have been in on some plan to modify Walt, so Vincent had to survive to watch over Walt.
I dont know anything else!! lol.. how many times! But every time he is reading a book.. that happens. Like he was reading a book about birds and then there was a bird. He was reading a book about polar bears and then there were polar bears. Could the others be something from Walts mind, something he has thought.. read?

Most the main characters, survived the crash with just superficial injuries. Theres something 'off' with the crash in general. I think "we were all brought here for a reason" may be significant for Vincent aswel. Maybe his reason was to firstly, help Walt with the morning of his mother, and then help Shannon with the loss of her brother? I dont think Walt is a spy or a 'clone'. Thats not to say that he isnt spiritual, I mean you dont call them 'mans best friend' for nothing. It is as though they do understand at times (dogs) and maybe they do. But I think Vincent just that, a dog.....!

Youve got to think they wernt all on the beach. But they all ended up back there. Jack probaby got flown into the air when the plane hit the ground. Also the whole charlie thing. Whats going on?! He ran down to the first class toilets where he stashed his gear. He then went to go back to his seat but got slammed onto the floor, causing him to get up and grab the first available seat.. right at the front of first class...

Well, hes religious, so he will believe in a degree of 'faith' so I'm sure he does (or atleast did) think everything happens for a reason (fate)
He also had LATE (just after the crash) and also HATE but I forget if that was before or after FATE..

Yeah, this has been discussed before, and I think we came to the conclusion the seats were the same as those sat in by Boone and Shannon, I dont think they were 1st class, but the seats were different to that of Jacks/Lockes etc
