Just thought i might mention that chapter 48 of watership down is called 'dea ex machina' which is very similar in title to the lost episode 'deus ex machina'. I know we knew that the book was somehow involved because sawyer was reading it but did anyone know this?

It's THE BEST BOOK EVER!
That was the chapter when Lucy rescued Hazel from the cat and set him free on the downs again.

Pity no-one rescued Boone from the cat then.

chapter 48?! holy cow how many chapters can one book have. must be quite long..

It is Emanuelle, but if I remember rightly that was fairly near the end.

Oh okay then. well, unless the chapter system in that book is like the one in 'the incident of the dog in the nightime' it is quite long.

The chapters are very short, but the book is about 400 pages long.

I spotted Sawyer reading 'Watership Down'-did anybody else remember him reading 'Lord Of The Flies' in an episode soon before saying to Jin 'It's Lord Of The Flies time'
