Nah..she didnt imply the others had done it imo..i viewed it as her implying that Goodwin had been delt with [killed] by her..hence "were safe now"..with no explaination of what happened shows that she basically 'told' [in not so many words] them that he was an other and that she had killed him.

..[In 'Abandoned'] when she told Michael and co about the "Others" she said something like [to Bernard who challenged her?]:

"You remember what they did? ..you remember Goodwin?"

Ah good point, obviously I'd taken the implication the way it was meant. I'm in no doubt that the other tailies know that she killed him though.

Yeah..they definetely knew..her body langueage and the fact that she came back without him, not to mention the "were safe now" indicates that.

I also supected Nathan when I watched the episode, I still don't fully trust him, but I don't think he was one of the 'bad' Others like Goodwin. I know the writers like using nomen-omens in peoples names, here's a couple of ideas: Goodwin, he said they only takegood people, so did he use the name because he believes himself a good person? And with the debate over trying to link Nathan's name to Ethan I thought as I watched it Nathan could actually be Nathen, with an 'e', as I knew someone who spelt their name like that, so could he be Nathen Rom?

i am sorry but i cant be bothered to read all the posts, but did anyone notice the following?

in this eppy ana kills goodwin, nbut in the previous eppy, when the tailes are going to jack and co's part of the island and sawyer collapses- michael says they have to help him, ana says 'remember what they did do goodwin?' to the rest of the gang. does that mean they dont know that goodwin was an other?!but didnt ana lucia tell her gang that she killed goodwin?! im confused!

I think what Ana actually said was 'Remember Goodwin?' as in 'do you remember that slimy other that infiltrated us and took half our peeps'.

I really don't think Nathan is anyone of any significance, outside of Tuesday's episode.

My reasoning behind this; everything everyone has mentioned about his similarities with Ethan just goes to show what the creators of Lost are doing - they are giving us slight hints at links so that when the twist comes and it is not Nathan who is the infiltrator, we will be suprised and say 'oh but I was sure it was, he was so like Ethan...even the names are similar.' I think people are looking far to far into the idea of Nathan being a 'bad' person and trying to connect him with Ethan.

However, I do believe that there are perhaps 2 groups of others; one good; one bad - Goodwin and Ethan's respectivley. My reasoning is that Ethan gave no mention of any kind of reasoning for taking Claire, it seems more the action of a kidnap than of Goodwin, whose group took people to, I believe, rescue them. This fits in with the idea that the island is a kind of redemption for those who have sinned, and so the 'good' people taken have not sinned and so should be kept from the dangers of the island - Ethan's group, the Security System, etc. I feel that the reason Nathan was killed was because he posed a threat to Goodwin who believed, up until Ana-Lucia confronting him, that he was getting away with his infiltration. If Goodwin had not been caught, then Ana-Lucia and the other tailies would have presumed Nathan's 'Other's' friends would have rescued him; confounding Goodwin as part of the group and diverting attention completely.

Presuming Nathan to be Ethan's brother or dad or whatever just seems to be looking far too heavily into what was a red-herring. A very well-thought out and clever red-herring, but a red-herring none-the-less

I really liked this ep. it was great how you got to see what happened to the tail people. Do you think we will get to see any of their flash backs? i would be particularly interested in seeing Mr EKO and AL's one.

I 'think' we will get to see all of theirs..they seem like main characters now..so i live in hope!

With reference to this Nathan being a "bad" person thing, I had a theory :

Notice how our main losties (jack, kate etc) all have terrible secrets in their pasts. Out of the 4 survivors of the tail section (ana, eko, bernard, libby) they seem to have a secret about their past too. These people with horrible pasts could be seen as "bad" people (eg Sawyer killed an innocent man in S1, obviously making him a bad person).

My idea is that Nathan was a bad person in that sense, that he had a secret. The others wouldn't want a bad person amoung them, probably why Goodwin had no problem killing him, probably why Ethan had no problem trying to kill Charlie.

Also so far, the only person to be taken from the main section of the plane is Claire (for the baby or because she is a good person) whereas everyone else has been killed (probably because they were bad, didn't sawyer say something about some woman bedding down with Scott every night?)


Just some ideas. Brillient episode, next week's one is even more amazing!!
