I feel pretty justified after seeing AL in action last night..she's taken so much critism and slack from many quarters and yet in '48 days' she was a true heroin.

If it wasnt fer her leadership skills they would all have been dead..despite the heroics of the magnificent Eko.

It was her who sussed out Goodwin..and Nathan for that matter [since it could still be argued that he too was an 'Other']

I mean, how brave is she [not to mention smart]..being confident enough in her own ability to confront Goodwin like that..she knew this was her chance..the radio thing made it obvious to her that he was not one of them and it was a perfect opportunity to get him away from her crew to protect them and kill him.

And then seeing her crying like that almost broke my heart..i knew she had a soft centre..even the strong need support sometimes and im so glad Eko was there for her..

For me this was a truely beautiful moment..what with Ana crying [aww! Frown] and Eko coming out of his silence to give her strength and support.

Ok, Ok, you were right! Big Grin

I always knew for her to be putting on this tough act she must have her reasons. My opinion hasnt completely changed, I think she has trust issues that, if she is ever going to be accepted into our losties camp then she is going to have to deal with.

I had already been warming to her a bit and I agree that she was a heroine.

But she is still very hot-headed and impulsive and I think she's going to cause a lot of conflict amoungst our original losties.

I support Ana L (no bias there, just because I'm called Ana! Wink. She is a good person under the tough exterior. But yes, under all that pressure she's turned into a loose cannon.

How about that spine chilling moment when AL innocently asks Goodwin for the knife and he hesitates to hand it back, as his instinct begins to tell him that AL is onto him...

Yeah she's definitely hot-headed and impulsive..i suppose thats why we love her though..or at least why we talk about her so much. I agree, shes going to create some conflict because shes not one to be led i reckon..it will be interesting if she ever meets up with Jack..im sure they'll remember each other..maybe he can be the one to tame her a bit? ..or maybe she'll make a man of him? Razz

Im glad people are accepting her a bit more though.

Ok...Ok...Roco, ya got me! Busted!

To begin with, when she bursts through the water...I was like, "Ha, look at you all wet!"
But I think it was when she started to save others, especially the little girl. It made me go, "oh."

Loved the bit woth Libby and that guy's leg. Ana looked horrified, I too was horrified...I think it was a bonding moment between us.

Bernard, that was good too. She's very commanding, very....authorative (sp). That, and her knowledge of the Peace Corps (sp), and the army knife....leads me to believe she's either in the army etc. or a cop.

Her with Nathan....ha! That amused me...but I could see why she was doing it, however, I'd already decied it was Goodwin.

Her protection of the kids, and the other people in camp.....but more so the kids. If anyone mentioned kids...Goodwin I think. Something has happened there....

And then..."Beachy's Changing of Feelings" Number One.....Goodwin. In the jungle. Coz I'd already decided it was Goodwin, I was like "Ana, be careful!" which shocked me coz I was protecting her.
And then her interrogation, BRAVO! She was SO good....and the fight. I cheered HER on. I wanted HER to kill HIM, which also surprised me. And then I cheered!

And now..."Beachy's changing of feelings" Number Two...when she sat alone and started to cry. This is exactly what I said, "No..Ana don't..DO NOT make me sad for you...Ana, honey..come on...Eko?" and then they comforted each other...beautiful. Then, "shh, it's ok..Ana, shh hun, it's ok." I was so shocked at the sympathy for her.....

But, the montage...the famous musical montage reminded me of my anger. As did the end.

So...this is how I feel. I don't like her BUT I understand, and respect her....

(Roco, How are you today hun? Better? Smile )

Clutching at straws ever so slightly... Goodwin was hardly likely to gain anything by snapping the neck of an ally. Since his main object in killing (and hiding the body of) Nathan was to take the heat off, it would have sufficed - were Nathan an "Other" - simply to set him loose.

Whilst the obviously sadistic "Others" are certainly ill-qualified to pass moral judgements on anyone else, Goodwin's obvious contempt of Ana Lucia (especially when he mocks her by repeating her own "cut off his finger" threat) brings to mind Ethan's attitude - the barely-suppressed, over-confident irony with which he slyly taunts Hurley in "Raised by Another", and the completely unsuppressed hatred he expresses towards the castaways from thenceforth. Clearly, the "Others" consider their victims as both contemptible and deserving of their fates, possibly supporting the idea that they are victims of Dharma's activities, that Dharma has a global reach, and therefore that the "Others" equate the whole of the outside world and its inhabitants with Dharma.

Which might exempt Ana Lucia from any specific "not a good person" charges. It may simply be that "good" in this instance means useful, suggestible, submissive, genetically suitable, psychically gifted, potential ally, flavoursome etc. as opposed to moral.

However, locking Nathan in the pit on the basis of suspicion was almost as heinous an act as Jack's torture of Sawyer, and lashing out at Goodwin before she had heard any useful information was easily as stupid an act as Charlie's shooting spree. Whilst she obviously likes children, there is a limit to how much redemption this can buy her since she obviously despises the rest of humanity with a passion.

However, with his 40-day sulk, I will admit that Mr Eko finally surpassed her for rudeness.

Did she jump at him first? I can't remember. I thought he'd attacked her first and she was acting in self defence, but please correct me if I've got dodgy memory. Smile

I've definitely re-thought my opinion of AL. At first I thought 'who the hell does she think she is??!', especially considering her treatment of Jin, Sawyer & Micheal. But thinking about it now, her group needed a leader as much as the others did (not The Others lol) and she stepped up.

While I probably still don't trust her completely I would be willing to give the benefit of the doubt after last nights episode - want to see more of her and I think it will be interesting to see how she copes with joining the other Losties after she took on the leadership role with the Tailies. I can't exactly see Jack, Locke or Kate following orders from her so I think she will have to take on another role.

I've seen it thrice, and she definitely jumps him while he's busy having a jolly old gloat (just after the memorably creepy line "They're better off now").

Yeah I think it will be interesting to see how she interacts with the bigger personality's of the other group. Having alreay clashed with Sawyer, will she clash with anyone else?

I think she could clash with quite a lot of people but maybe if she chills a bit she may get on a bit better. I think her main rival could be in Kate as they are both strong personalities but Ana is very authoritative and with Kate's past she doesn't like authority.

I would quite like to see how Locke and Ana get on cos Locke has tried to helped a lot of people and it would be interesting to see if and how he helps her - maybe she too has lost her faith and needs help in finding it?? So much to think about am really getting excited about future episodes and seeing how Ana progresses. Although she may not be liked I think there is a lot of scope for her character.

Oh i loved that scene..she showed so much bravery and compassion and when she rushed over to save Emma i was like "aww!"..the look of relief and joy on her face was so good to see..she's got such a lovely smile..she really should use it more often Wink

quote:

Hehe..yeah that was horrific! It was really interesting to watch Libby go into 'work' mode though..seeing how calm and assured she was, was vastly different from how frail and quite timid she appears on some other occasions..

I think she could prove to be really useful.

quote:
Bernard, that was good too. She's very commanding, very....authorative (sp). That, and her knowledge of the Peace Corps (sp), and the army knife....leads me to believe she's either in the army etc. or a cop.

I agree..i liked the scene with Bernard in the tree..such tension! I liked the little look that Goodwin gave her after she had helped Bernie save himself..he seemed to be impressed by how resourceful she was..maybe he didnt expect that? Maybe he was worried that his plan might not be as easy to achieve as he first thought?

I so agree though..i think she's a cop..its just the way she holds that gun and her authoritative nature.

quote:
Her with Nathan....ha! That amused me...but I could see why she was doing it, however, I'd already decied it was Goodwin.

TEEHEE..loved that bit..the thing is I could see it coming a mile off..pity for Nathan that he couldnt! Big Grin

I agree, i could see why she suspected him..i like her thought that he was the spy [he still might have been another other imo]..i did notice that if you watch her closely she does seem to also suspect Goodwin quite near the start but i think her 'instincts' told her that Nathan was the spy..at least until the radio thing with goodwin maybe..

quote:
Her protection of the kids, and the other people in camp.....but more so the kids. If anyone mentioned kids...Goodwin I think. Something has happened there....

I so agree..that pained expression on her face seemed to imply that she either has or had a child.. ..that would give her yet another dimension!

Ah Beachy you rock! Cool I too was so taken aback by just how good that scene was..she was so smart..so brave. It was like 'pistols at dawn' kinda thing..except with a mango and a knife instead of guns..lol! I must say the actor who played Goodwin did such a good job..he was so convincing on screen!

quote:
And now..."Beachy's changing of feelings" Number Two...when she sat alone and started to cry. This is exactly what I said, "No..Ana don't..DO NOT make me sad for you...Ana, honey..come on...Eko?" and then they comforted each other...beautiful. Then, "shh, it's ok..Ana, shh hun, it's ok." I was so shocked at the sympathy for her.....

B..youre so good with words! Youre right, it was so beautiful..perhaps the most beautiful moment for me so far..i mean there was poor AL..the woman I had defended for so many weeks..shes normally so tough..so strong..i always knew she wasnt as tough as she made out..and here she was crying..my heart almost broke for here all alone like that..and then the magnificnet Eko does just what i would have done and comforted her..aww!

I think despite the fact that she cried..it showed great strength because she was finally able to admit to herself that she too needed help..she too needed someone to understand her and just put their arm around her and tell her that everything would be ok. Im so happy Ek's was there for her. He didnt embarass[sp] her he just comforted her and i think there bond grew even stronger from this point.

quote:
But, the montage...the famous musical montage reminded me of my anger. As did the end.

So...this is how I feel. I don't like her BUT I understand, and respect her....

Well said Beachy..im so glad you can understand her a bit more and see glimpses what i see Smile

Yep this episode drastically made me change my views on Ana. Up until this one i would have probably quite happily smacked her in the mouth.

I've seen it three times now. I really must get out more haha.

I still hate her with a passion. Goodwin said they didnt take Nathan because Nathan was not a good person, lets not forget this must apply to the rest of the remaining tailies (bar Mr Eko).

I saw no reason in this episode to justify her bullying of Sawyer. Plus now we know shes a serial killer - the 'other' girl, Goodwin, Shannon and indirectly Nathan. Though I'm pretty sure she would have killed him too if Goodwin hadnt put him out of his misery. How many more people is she going to kill before shes satisfied!?

well i dont know if you guys missed the ending but she still shot shannon! The other losties wont be pleased about that and by the looks of the clips it looks like there might be repurcusions next week!!

For me she was to quick to fire her gun especially as she knew there were other castaways on the island. She could just about get away with it if she didnt know about them but seeing as she did there is no excuse.

What do u guys think???

Cant wait to see next weeks episode
