Can't remember the number we're at now, what was it?, eppy 17?
Anyhoo, great episode, I loved it. Loved the music which we heard in "Flashes....", which they used again for this eppy. It seems they have their very own Desmond theme music for Lost, very mystical and reflecting. So Desmond didn't always used to say "brother" then ay? Interesting. What is it with this man and booze?, ha ha. Good to see Penny again, she's cool. Why did Desmond change his mind and save Charlie?, and was he really planning on letting him die?
What I don't understand about this eppy is why Desmond had to get Charlie to come along with him... as whether Charlie came along would not alter the time-line of the helicopter and the pilot crash landing.
I'm under the impression that when you alter the slightest thing [big or small] in a timeline that it alters the future, however how was this relevant as nothing was going to stop "Penny" or the helicopter from getting to the island. Anyhoo if Desmond wanted to keep the time-line the same... all he had to do was go about his usual business and presumably wait for Hurley or Charlie to ask him to join them on a jungle trek. It just seems odd that Desmond altered the time-line by running up to Hurley and asking where the wire was, however events ended up exactly the same in real life as they did in his vision. Surely such a thing would have led Hurley down another path regardless of them going to the same place. What I mean is, people take different steps, have different mind-sets and will do different things if a time-line is altered even ever so slightly. I take it that Desmond's vision was a vision of things that happened AFTER he ran up to Hurley, which is strange because Desmond acted upon what he saw in the vision, thus how did events turn out exactly the same? Still with me? Lol.
Anyoo, enter Ana Lucia #2, aka the pilot. I'm in shock that someone was able to arrive on the island! When I heard the helicopter in his vision, I was blown away! I'm guessing either Penny crashed into the Sea or was not apart of this mission. I suppose they found the correct co-ordinates to enter the island when they found the electromagnetism anomly. But if THEY can get to the island, why can't the Others leave or return anymore? Maybe Ben meant that no one can ever leave the island however they can still arrive.
I was SO relieved when it turned out Desmond was having a vision when Charlie died. I REALLY like Charlie and would be gutted if he died. Likewise when Desmond saved Charlie from the arrow, I was certain the camera would look up to show Jin or Hurley spiked by the arrow, which again I was VERY relieved to find they were safe and sound. I just can't be doing with any of these guys getting killed off as they're originals. I guess I also consider Desmond an original too as he's an islander who was introduced outside of the Others, and plus Desmond is awesome
You know, this eppy counts has a filler in my book, we didnt really learn a lot about anyone, (part from the ending and why Dessy calls everyone 'brother'). I mean, the fact that Dessy cant commit to women, saves Charlies life and loves Penny, and the fact the love triangle/square is has strong has it was in season 2 is nothing new.
But what a filler. You know, I genunily thought that this eppy was gonna be the one where Charlie bit the dust (how many lives has that guy got???), I like him has a character too.
I guess, its kinda like the butterfly effect, change one thing and you change everything. Also theres a case for C leads to A leads to B leads to C has well with Desmonds flashes, only happened when he made it happen.
For the helicopter piloit, guess we will have to wait and see, so many possablities, all leading up to the finale i expect.
Just a thought, I reckon there was more clues about 'Jacob' maybe being a second comming type figure, with the flare maybe representing the star that the three wise men saw (no jokes).

It seems everytime we don't find out anything new, people slam it as "Filler" This was far from Filler, I mean someone arrived on the island for God's sake!!!! That's big stuff in my books. Well the love triangle/square is never going to die because a large number of fans watch Lost for it's romance. I really thought one of them were going to die for sure. If anyone has to go then please take Claire or Sun lol. I like them both, but I like everyone else more.

Judging from her brief appearance, Ana Lucia #2 looks quite hot lol I think this Finale will be the best yet. I can just imagine the next eppy being the one where AL #2 is mostly unconscious and we don't get any answers. However unlike too many people over at LC, I just try and appreciate Lost without bashing it at every opportunity and being impatient... Sometimes I doubt most of them even like this bloody show! They hate Jate, Skate, Claire, hate repetition, not finding out anything new and constantly b1tch and moan. Why can't people just enjoy it? Not a personaly dig btw, but some people go overboard with criticism. I suppose they'll only be happy when Lost is over and done with and they can all go and complain about the next TV series that comes along. Lost is so unique, and nothing will EVER replicate this great show, so why not enjoy it whilst it lasts?
I like the idea that Jacob is the new Christ or something however how does a 2nd coming develop a List? It's very plausible indeed that the right light was meant to symbolise a star. I thought that scene with the red light was very cool, I suppose it was just the thought that someone was FINALLY arriving on the island but just the imagery of it was awesome
My favorite part is Jin's ghost story... which I snooped about, and found the translation to... funny stuff.

Well you make it more sound more exciting than I remember it Angs perhaps I had better watch it again (I can’t remember any music)
I was actually pleased to see pilot still alive and hope she proves to be a successful character (although we prob won’t see her again for a few weeks)
I am not sure about Desmond changing the course of events though because at the beginning of the show in the series of flashes right after Charlie got kebabed Charlie was seen holding the parachute
And I hope you are right Angs that this will be best finale yet because I hope its all building up to something BIG as there have been some clever moments but they do seem to be hanging in the air (if that makes sense)

I quite liked the episode but it didn't stand out for me. Sorry Angs I ain't bashing it, I just tend to enjoy it more when my favourites are in it.
So the big reveal....Dessie is a Celtic fan. I wonder if he can travel back through time and alter the outcome of Seville 2003. Sorry couldn't resist bringing this into it.
Anyway, I do get a bit confused by this whole altering events type thing. I mean, Charlie was supposed to die (again! ) but Des changed this. Someone asked me if Des hadn't altered events, would it have been Penny under the helmet....but surely that's crazy talk cos whoever it is had already landed before Des prevented Charlie from dying.
The girl whispered Desmond right at the end and obviously there was the book with the photo in it. My guess is that she'll now never regain conciousness just to throw it open even more and torment poor Desmond. At least he'll know that Penny is looking for him.
As per usual Jack and Kate made me want to vomit over and over again. Sawyer was amusing on occasion. I loved his 'You two arguing over who's your favourite other?' line. Hehe. I do hope Sawyer is just enjoying the moment with swamp thing and doesn't actually have feelings for her because she's treating him like cr@p. I ain't big on James but he deserves better.
All in not a bad one but I'm counting on Ben and Locke making an appearance next week!

I suppose it is possible that she doesn’t speak English so therefore won’t be able to give much information or took a knock to the head and now has amnesia it just wouldn’t be fitting to the show if she did arrive with information would it

Whoa mate, I didnt say that I didnt like the eppisode, far from it. I always try to find (and often succeed in finding) the hidden meanings in a lot of the so called filler episodes and I enjoy them a lot because of that. Just because I label somthing a filler, doesnt mean that I don enjoy it, because unlike some people, I always do, and I realise you cant go at break neck speed all the time. Like with the Hurley and blowing up all the food episode in s2, everyone saw that has a filler and hated it, but i saw the line "Everythings going to change" and look how prophetic that turned out to be.

Its episodes like this that make more sense when you watch them back after the season has ended isn't it
i know i haven't been kind to S3 and its not because i don't want to be kind i have tried to like it but it seems to be lacking the same nrg that S1 and S2 had so i am hoping for a big finale to make it all the more interesting when i watch it back again

Awww, well Jack didn't. I thought he actually seemed pretty grossed out by Kate and the whole spoon thing. Ick. I kinda said, something mean, and then realised I had kinda insulted Sawyer by doing so, and so I shall just stick to my original, "Ew, Jack...it's Kate!"
Sawyer was funny in this episode. Loved him and Jack playing table-tennis, so cute. They're friends. Sort of. Finally. I've waited SO long for this.
Oh, and as for Sawyer. *Resists urge to smack him upside the head*. He knows Kate is using him. He knows she loves Jack more. And yet he allows her to do so because he...well, he's male. But you're right, he does deserve better *cough*me*cough* because Kate is just being mean to him. Damn her.
I think though, on some level, because he loves her, Sawyer is hoping to convince Kate to love him back by staying with her etc. But I doubt she will. She's too hung up on Jack. My poor Sawyer....

Well, I've always claimed that Sawyer and Jack have NEVER hated each other, they just were not able to understand each other, and got angered by the other's actions.
But like you say, over time, and due to different things, they began to chat to each other, become almost friends...and then last week with the hug! That hug brought me more joy than anything...and now table-tennis. Much fun. I think, after their capture, they understand each other more, and so, are friends.
I'm ok, bit stressed. Yourself?
