Before I get verbally abused on here for stating my opinion for the abomination that this programme has turned into, please just take into account the points I am about to raise.
Skins seems to have gone a severe change for the worse since last series. The ways that the characters are portrayed has vastly changed. For example, Cassie used to be a really sweet likeable character but now she has turned into some vindictive individual. Tony obviously has changed due to his bus accident so I have no problems with continuity there. Jal has changed, she was another pleasant likeable character but is now developed a bad attitude towards other characters. Not seen much of Maxxie and Anwar this series unfortunately as they were very strong characters. Michelle, same old Michelle, every teenage boy’s wet dream. Sid changed a bit but for the worse as I didn’t believe Sid was the type of character to do it what he did with Michelle. Chris hasn't changed and he isn't going to do anymore changing now as he's bought it.
Whose fault is it? The actors? Certainly not, they seem very dynamic actors and have adapted well to the roles. The blame solely rests on the writers for this series. Episodes have been riddled with ridiculous plots, that university that Tony looked around with the girl and the viscous tutor. Secondly, that episode the other night when one minute Chris was bleeding, the next Cassie was strolling around America? Was it dream? Reality? Who knows? There are certain types of TV shows that can do that, only Lost and Prison Break can get away with plots like that, the writers of Skins cannot seem to 'wrap' things up Sid's Dad for example what caused his death? There is no good in assuming why he died answers are needed.
I also think due to the poor writing and ambiguous plots, Skins is watchability has decreased, I used to be able to watch the last series episodes a few times over but when series 2 is released I'll doubt I want to watch it again.
In my final words I advise the writers of this programme to don their quills and move onto something else, they've seriously manage to ruin a good programme.
(This is my opinion; I am not here to want to change anyone else's view on Skins, if you appreciate this series more than the first or like it just as much then fair enough. Perhaps those who differ in my view of this series would like to contest why Series 2 is good, I hope I get some opinions of those who like this series.
oookaaay after watching repeats of the second series so far and the first series i agree that some of the points you have raised up are tru,,,points like maxxie and anwar not staring and they were main characters!! anwar didn't even get an episode :S missing out on his funny moments. i have to say that i do think last series was much more funnier and that was what skins was all about to me,,,,,this series has been very dull,,,depressing and emotional. But i disagree with you when you say the writing has been poor. The best written episode has to be jals episode,,,,,which Daniel wrote and he is only 18,,,,so i thought that was incredible.
i do agree that cassie has become a bit weirder than usual though,,,but may bring that down to michelle and sid thing,,,but i hope she returns by end of series.
Overall i do think series one was definately better than series 2 but i wouldnt say this series is terrible but there were some points that couldve been improved definately
I'm afraid you're on your own there pal. This series has been absolutlely brilliant! Well written, entertaining, funny & sad. you feel connected with the characters, you feel their pain and you feel their joy. it leaves things up to the viewers imagination, i think it was very clever what they did with sid's dad because the more mystery there was, the more it got discussed, people are still talking about it now. I loved the way Chris was the happy-go-lucky optimistic kind of guy even though times were tough, Cassie was portrayed as more human in this series, as was Tony. Anyway each to their own i guess, i respect your opinion
""I will be on the other side..the side that no-one knows. Another dimension that your mind ponders to know but can`t find a beginning or conclusion...just a HYPNOTIZING title that leads to an Hourglass of curiosity....""
O yes forgot to comment on sids dad situation,,,,thought i was very strange but maybe it was better of if they didn't say what happened even though still curious what it was,,,,,leaves it to our imagination.
I agree to some extent... its been good to watch but i now hate some of the characters cassie, what the hell, she was wierd but now shes a fruit and shes malicious! the rest are ok sid has got more confidence but that comes with losing your virginity xxx xx x
ok i have skimmed through the comments coz there to long for me to read and i have no time but i wanna stick up for this series i think it has been good and more indeepth and we have got through more things the first series was the fun side of them all and this series is the other side of them! i think the writers have done really well! i like this series.

same here but i think that both series are amazing. I think that series one is better than series 2 but i still think that series 2 has had lots of effort put into it and it is really gd!
xx i luv Tony and Maxxie xx skins rockz my sockz xxx yyaaayyyyyyyy xxx ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥XX LUV U GGGINA LUVZYA - SISTER XX♥ x (o'_'o) x
I agree to some extent ... Skins is supposed to be a teenage program involving Sex, drugs and rock and roll that we can laugh along with because we've all got drunk, done stupid things and not had a care in the world apart from what we're going to wear that day!
The first series was all of this .. it was humourous yet emotional and you could connect with atleast one or all of the characters! The second series was depressive, serious and just not enough partying to be honest! I know everyone grows up and obviously the skins writers took this into account but I just didn't enjoy this series as much as the first!!
Don't get me wrong.. I was hooked from the beginning and I still watch series 2 .. but I just think it's not HALF as good as the first one .. although I will admit that I like Chris alot more in this series as we've had more of a chance to see his true character, but I wouldn't say that for the rest of the cast! We've hardly seen Anwar or Maxxie, even Tony has been hard to spot! =/
But hey .. all this moaning and I'll still watch the next episode.. lol
they are exploring the two ends of the scale, Season one was to establish the characters and deal with the more laid back side of life or fun aspects, were as season 2 shows some of the problems that they face through life and the more emotional aspects the characters go through. Pee's me off when people complain about it "not being the same"
fair enough - i see what you're saying and it's your opinion...
but i disagree completely
i think the characters have been a lot further developed - we arent seeing one dimensional characters anymore
---> Cassie: no girl is just all sweet and innocent and sugar sugar sugar... when bad stuff happens to people, people get upset and angry and we've seen that she DOES have that normal negitive side to her ... she takes her anger out on those who love her; chris and jal, and that's natural for some people when they get confused and upset... but she's is the same old Cass! the way she treats chris in her episode is adorable; she really takes care of him happily changing his dressing and buying him a monkey shirt to cheer him up! i don't understand how anyone can NOT expect her to be cruel to michelle after what her "best friend" did to her!
i also feel the humor is EXACTLY the same - all the relatable and clever honesty is still there.
everyone has their own opinion and i respect that - but i personally enjoyed the second series a lot!!!
I think that the second series is a lot better than the first, in my opinion the first series was overated. But I do think for the most part people will favour one series to the other because they were quite different. I prefer how the characters have devloped in the second series , Cassie especially. Seeing her breakdown was one of the few reasons I kept watching this programme. I didn't watch the first when it was on TV, but because everyone was raving about it I caught up on 4oD and wasn't overly impressed. I think that the first season lacked a lot of substance.
The folks at The TV Show would like to hear your views on the latest Skins series. Contact them on thetvshow@channel4.com. If it’s your sort of thing, maybe record a video or audio clip and send that in, so they can incorporate it into the show on May 10.
We picked up on this discussion a couple of weeks ago in Forum buzz, let us know if you spot any good debates on skins or any other c4 programme that ought to be included.
Currently the bookies’ favourites for the debates on Saturday 10th look likely to focus on Cutting Edge: Strictly Baby Fight Club and Dispatches: Immigration – the Inconvenient Truth. But the debates are never set in stone until a day or two before the show and are pretty likely to change again. So if you’ve got and idea for a debate let us know. Find the latest info here.
I sort of get where you are coming from. I did personally prefer series 1 more to series 2. Series one was very humerous and full of raves and partying. Series two on the other hand was dark and more pychologically based, if you get what I mean, all the characters weren't like 'Lets rave' and just slept together they were more like 'Lets minipulate each other' and 'Lets just be all round suspicous and mean to one another'. It really depends if someone can watch any type of drama, if you liked both series just as much as one other. I guess what the writers were trying to was show how much they've grown out of they're old personalitys and that people change over time. They couldn't have the characters sent off to uni acting like constantly drugged up ravers. As for Maxxie and Anwar I was also very dissapointed they were not included much, they were two very likeable characters. I also did not understand WTF cassie was doing. I didn't like the idea of michelle and tony together because I thought Michelle should've finally dumped him, a car crash isn't going to take back everything he did to her before, it showed she was still childish and nieve compared to the others. Phew, thats my rant about skins over. I love skins and all but I just wanted to broadcast my feelings soz.
