ok .. right was that girl like his confidants or something? and the man with the scars and then him being the teacher?? i went through the hole of that thinking what the heck and trying to figer it out but im still a bit confused?
The man with the scars wasn't real. The girl he slept with wasn't real. Other various parts throughout were not real.
Obviously some of it was real though, due to the tattoo that he recieved.
Think of it kind of like a mental breakdown. He was given two choices: 'Fight' or 'Flight'. Tony choose to fight, and in doing so he managed to fix himself, and so the old Tony is back.

When the girl got the tattoo, it was really tony so does that mean tony kiss the bloke? Those two were obviously gay, i'm just trying to figure out what was real and what was not and what was really going on at the time.
Tony's episode is actually a Jungian journey of individuation; a psychical process of achieving the normal state of things and ultimately affecting positive psychical change. The mysterious girl represents the anima (the feminine aspect of the male psyche) in this instance embodied by her similarity in appearance to Effy - his sister who has taken responsibility for him after his trauma (the episode neatly ties this up by his return not just to his house but to looking out for his sister.) The stoners also bear a skewed resemblance to his actual friends (Chris et al) again all constructs of his mind. The strange couple showing the uiversity to him is a image of Sid and Michelle's relationship. The tatto is not literal but metaphorical symbolising his psychical integration of his anima and animus.
Feels as if they are going to hardcore this series, i'm waiting for an episode that is just about having a good time, not all this depressing stuff thats happening.

Steven Gerrard is Sexy! ---I'm so proud of it I put my name on it--- SAVE THE CHEERLEADER, SAVE THE WORLD, HIRO NAKAMURA, U ARE A LEGEND
reedrichards...just wondering if you know all that for a fact or it is your interpretation? very impressed but just want to know how you found out or if you are just a genious!
Hey hollytotheoaks - what can I say? Genius of course!
Sadly just a former media lecturer (although younger and nothing like the one in last night's ep) and TV/movie geekboy.
Also not privvy either to scripwriters' thinking but I guess they had to explain away what should have been months and months of rehabilition for head trauma in an entertaining hour of drama so Tony can get back to being a t**t again.

Although I didn't pick up the stoners resembling Chris and the others. Now that I've seen it again, yeah, the talky one's forehead looks like Chris, and the tattoo person had a Maxxie feel on him.

tbh, the thing I didn't like about that episode was that it featured stereotypes. but yeah, I miss watching the gang just having fun. the fun parts in episode 4 were just not enough.
