found this on digital spy and was quite shocked!! heard rumours that this meant be happening but nows theres confirmation.
The executive producer of Skins has confirmed its entire cast will change for the next series.
Bryan Elsey said: "There are risks associated with dumping a cast, but we just did it. There was some disquiet at the channel, but then they told us just to go with it.
"It's exciting - we never stand still and we can tell our stories in a new way."
Speaking at Broadcast's television drama conference this week, he also confirmed the show would stick to its pattern of introducing college-age characters, moving them on in the next series, then letting them go.
"The first year is about getting to know the kids, and the second gives us the advantage of being able to explore their psyches a little more," said Elsey.
The show will also continue to use a team of up to 20 writers, including newcomers.
I heard about this in the Daily Mirror this afternoon and I was stunned and sad too! I'm gonna miss all the characters because we were beginning to know them so well! It's not gonna feel the same

i think this is a good idea but not, i cant beleave the original skins will be over in a few Mondays but i can see how they cant follow on, its better to finish on a high then a low, i mean with the original cast, but i cant see it being any better with the younger new cast! the originals are always the best!
The whole series has been a big low, i wouldn't be surprised if they actully killed them off in a bus accident or something. Can't see me watching another series if the new cast is as young as all the new characters thats been introduced like effys new friend and the guy who wants to get laid by effy or cassy (thats original isn't it...not)
haha aww i don't some how think they will kill them off in a bus have some faith in the writers. yeah i think they are moving the cast on for the next lot of teens coz when u think about it, its sopos to be about teens and its been on two years now and most of the ppl who watch skins are teens and are moving growing up so its like the move of the cast and the move of the teens in the world and letting in the next stage of teens in ... ok you probs don't understand what i just said but i cant explane it haha
I'm hoping to see happy endings for our favourite teens on the box. You know, Cassie and Sid heading off to Scotland, Anwar escaping his family, and so on and so forth.
This is a lovely opportunity to see the cast get a real ending, rather than dragging on and repeating storylines.
Logically wont Effy be older and in college? She is in her last year of "school". And in a sixth form college next year yeh? And they are hiring cast from 16-19 no older so I assume its not uni gang other wise they would be hiring 18-25 even older people.
OMG this is news to me, would they not be better off just ending skins now and doing another show it sounds silly they are going to carry on with an entire new cast
and at this rate we aint gona see anymore anwar!! unfortunately
